About this Opportunity:
The Assistant Controller will focus on achieving departmental goals in line with the company's long-term success. By using guiding principles, tasks, and skills to assist the Finance Leadership Team in guiding accounting team members.
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financial statements and report results in financial reporting system in an accurate and timely manner, be able to analyze variances and make informed decisions for the management team.
Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including managing AR and AP, and work closely with our company functional managers to provide insights regarding finance and accounting procedure
Support effective operational activities and transaction processing, along with understanding how the finance function can better support operations.
Track key monthly departmental financial performance using SAP to indicate areas of improvement.
Responsible for key balance sheet accounts reconciliations, including various inventory and WIP accounts at the end of reporting periods
Track billable labor hour and manufacturing overhead absorption per month to ensure current standard cost is accurate; otherwise, advise changes as needed
Participate quarterly excessive and obsolete inventory review with cross-functional teams and advice scrap schedules
Assist annual physical inventory and create cycle count procedure with Supply Chain Management (SCM) team
Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process and review all general journal entries to ensure accurate bookings
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedule at the end of each period and prepare personal property tax return
Lead company financial audit during interim and year-end audits, be able to problem-solve the issues and findings during the audit
Assist with quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process
Be able to research technical accounting issues for compliance
Ensure accounting practices comply with US GAAP and IFRS standards and regulatory requirements
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from a four-year college in accounting
MBA, CPA, and or CMA are highly valued
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in public accounting among manufacturing industries
Experience with financial statements preparation and account reconciliations
Experience with SAP or Microsoft Dynamics with the ability to build reports out of ERP system
