Overview:
Kadant is seeking a highly motivated, experienced technical accounting professional to join its corporate finance team in the role of Assistant Controller. This will be a high-impact role supporting the Corporate Controller and assist with the worldwide consolidation, financial reporting, and other corporate transactions and activities. In-office position with ability to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Responsibilities:- Manage corporate finance staff, including controlling the workflow and priorities, responding to ad- hoc questions and issues, and developing the team.
- Assist the quarterly closing and consolidation process, including preparation/review of supporting financial statement schedules, reconciliations, and subsidiary financial reviews.
- Oversee the preparation and consolidation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts and related management reporting and dashboards.
- Prepare quarterly equity compensation accounting and annual stock vesting.
- Review of SEC filings (Form 8-Ks, 10-Qs, 10-Ks,).
- Assist with the accounting for the corporate office books, corporate transactions and strategic initiatives, including acquisition integration.
- Assist with development of the ESG compliance program as it relates to financial reporting and attestation initiatives.
- Team with subsidiaries, internal departments, and external auditors to accomplish initiatives, address technical questions, and facilitate the successful completion of the annual audit.
- Write and/or review technical accounting memoranda to present a strategy on proposed transactions or impact of new accounting pronouncements.
- Assist with the maintenance of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide technical accounting advice to worldwide finance personnel.
- Prepare executive level presentations and analysis and other projects as required.
- Assist with modifications to the finance department consolidation software.
- Advanced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply GAAP to new and existing transactions.
- Experience with complex consolidations, involving multiple sub-consolidations.
- Comprehensive understanding of foreign currency translation and transactions.
- Highly motivated with proven success working well under pressure and multi-tasking.
- Demonstrated consistency, flexibility, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Attention to detail, organized, and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills – Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) software a plus.
Professional Experience
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Currently licensed certified public accountant (CPA)
- Big 4 or top tier national public accounting experience required.
- 15+ years’ experience in corporate and/or general accounting required.
- Recent public company experience as controller at smaller company preferred.
