A Brief Overview
Organize, present, and transcribe exams as directed by the radiologist, coordinate daily patient flow, assist radiologist, coordinator and/or manager with daily operating duties for the Breast Imaging Center, transcribe and distribute all necessary Breast Imaging Center correspondence, schedule appointments, assist in marketing the Breast Imaging Center to current and new referring physicians, assists in maintaining the overall growth of the Breast Imaging Center.
What you will do
- Organize and present all exams to the radiologist.
- Document and transcribe all radiologist notes into radiology report.
- Track outstanding unreported cases and present to radiologist.
- Track all unsigned and preliminary reports and notify radiologist.
- Update, transcribe and addend all reports as directed by the radiologist.
- Assist in implementation of mammography tracking system.
- Update the Breast Imaging tracking module as necessary.
- Assist Breast Imaging Center radiologist, coordinator, and/or manager as directed.
- Acts as a liaison between the Breast Center and referring physicians/their office staff.
- Work with referring physicians and patients to obtain proper documentation for scheduled procedures (prescriptions, pre-certifications, referrals, etc)
- Assist patients in need of further assessment by securing appointments with a Breast Specialist.
- Maintains documentation for release and return of all breast imaging exams released to patients or designated persons including all records mailed at the patients’ request.
- Transcribe and distribute all necessary Breast Imaging Center correspondence.
- Able to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Able to handle and resolve recurring problems.
- Able to manage difficult or emotional situations and respond promptly with care and compassion for patient/family/employee needs.
- Able to communicate effectively with difficult patients/physicians/employees
- Answer high volume phones.
- Maintain the Breast Imaging database.
- Adhere to all departmental and hospital policy/protocol.
- Prepare Breast Imaging clinical and research documents as required, and transcribe Breast Imaging Center related letters/documents.
- Performs other routine clerical and related duties as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Incorporates physiological and developmental age of patients into overall plan for delivery of care.
- Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening/weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and/or the Hospital.
- Responsibilities will require the ability to read, write and rationally comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality service is provided to clients and physicians.
- Utilizing any or all Hospital provided equipment and/or safe work procedures; employee shall be required to lift all objects as is practicable.
- The employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of this job, including but not limited to, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing. Must be able to stoop, kneel and/or crouch.

Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required and
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred or
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Candidate must have a strong background in medical/business organization, database management, medical terminology, knowledge of medical insurance and billing practices including ICD-9 and CPT coding.
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, and Internet Applications;
- knowledge of IDXRAD preferred.
- Knowledge of MQRSA and HIPAA regulations is required.
- Exceptional customer service skills are required.
