The Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards serves as a resource, liaison, and in some cases, a judicial officer on matters pertaining to Title IX and the Academic Honor Code. The Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards collaborates with University and community partners to develop and implement alcohol and drug education and prevention programming. Additionally, the Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards serves as a co-chair for the Student of Concern Committee.

1. Title IX: The Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards serves as the lead Title IX Coordinator for the University overseeing all aspects of Title IX compliance, education, investigations, and judicial processes.
2. Academic Honor Code: The Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards works closely with faculty members and students administering all aspects of the Academic Honor Code.
3. Alcohol and Drug Education/Prevention: The Assistant Dean of Students for Community Standards coordinates, implements, and assesses CUC's drug and alcohol education and prevention efforts.

Assistant Dean of Students - Community Standards, Title IX Coordinator

Responsibilities/Duties:

Title IX Administrative Duties, Responsibilities, Education, and Compliance:

• Supervises the receiving and processing of incidents of sex-based discrimination complaints from the campus community and third parties in a timely manner, providing for a fair and neutral process for all parties.
• Regularly recruits, trains, and provides leadership to staff who serve as Title IX deputy coordinators and/or investigators.
• Ensures that staff members who conduct investigations are trained on an annual basis.
• Ensures that comprehensive reports of investigation with findings of fact and recommendation(s) are written in all formal investigations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to interpret federal laws and regulations Title IX, VAWA, and assists with Clery compliance reporting.
• Reviews and ensures that University policies, procedures, protocols, and practices are in compliance with the Title IX regulations and state laws.
• Ensures that Title IX materials and education are annually distributed to all faculty, staff, and students.
• Collaborates with other campus offices, as needed to coordinate and execute a timely response and investigation of complaints as pursuant to Title IX.
• Provides ongoing consultation regarding Title IX requirements, grievance issues, and compliance programs to the President, the Executive Cabinet, and other appropriate University administrators.
• Annually prepares a statistical report and submits the report to the Vice President of Student Success on the incidence of sexual misconduct or other Title IX related matters. No information that identifies individuals will be shared within the annual reports.

Academic Honor Code Administrative Duties, Responsibilities, Programs, and Education:

• Administers all aspects of the Academic Honor Code - including, but not limited to: the receiving and processing of alleged Honor Code violations.
• Consults with and educates all faculty, staff, and students on matters pertaining to academic integrity and the process for reporting academic integrity concerns.
• Coordinates the nomination, selection, and training of students who serve on the Honor Code Council.
• Coordinates the selection and training of faculty members who serve on the Honor Code Council.

Dean of Students Office Administrative Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and regulations pertaining to the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act.

• Coordinates, implements, and assesses CUC's drug and alcohol education and prevention efforts.

• Works with the Student Success staff, campus partners and University administrators in terms of leading campus initiatives that promote a culture of civility, respect, and integrity within our community.

• Serves as a co-chair of the CUC Care Team (Students of Concern Committee).
• Maintains all case files within Maxient conduct software.
• Provides ongoing revisions, as necessary, to the Student Code of Conduct and the Employee Handbook on policy updates, Title IX changes, and the adjudication process.

Skill Sets:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in higher education/student affairs
• Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and the mission, vision, and core values of Concordia University Chicago - demonstrating a commitment to supporting the Mission and Core Values of Concordia University Chicago.
• Considerable experience in college administration, student life, counseling, and/or college teaching.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and cases simultaneously set priorities and meet deadlines required.
• Commitment to student development, especially as it pertains to integrity, civility, responsibility, and respect.
• Knowledge of student disciplinary systems in a university environment required.
• Knowledge of relevant laws in a higher education setting (e.g., Title IX,
• VAWA/Campus SaVE, FERPA, Clery) required.
• Experience with developing and evaluating effective alcohol and drug education and prevention programming.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work consultatively with faculty and administrators at all levels within the University required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality required.
• Ability to resolve complex problems required.
• Ability to use independent judgment required.
• Knowledge of standard software packages and programs (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• First-hand experience developing training and outreach programs on sexual violence prevention preferred.
• Working knowledge of Title IX law and investigation procedures preferred.
• Experience with Maxient conduct software preferred.

Minimum Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in higher education/student affairs

Education Requirements: Master's Degree required.
