Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director- Food & Nutrition.
In this role, the successful candidate Oversees all functions for Food & Nutrition Department under the support and oversight of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services, to provide continuous and consistent quality service in a cost effective manner to enhance patient/guest/staff satisfaction and support service excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organization’s core values and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
- Ensures superior operation of the patient meal delivery system (inclusive of the various cook-serve models) with rounding on patient units and interacting with patients for continuous performance improvement. Regularly audits system to ensure quality and safety parameters are met. Ensures food temperatures and temperature recordings are maintained. Prepares and maintains reports/audits for the patient services areas, such as but not limited to test trays, tray accuracy, pantry or diet aide audits, and HACCP inspections.
- Responds to patients of all age groups in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner while maintaining confidentiality. Partners with team members to meet the needs of the patients. Acts as the liaison and facilitates problem-solving with all patient care units and necessary departmental subunits.
- Maintains a sanitary, safe, and efficient operation in accordance with The Joint Commission and all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Assists in the selection, orientation, training, and evaluation of the staff to access competency and to provide the opportunity for professional/personal development with a customer service focused approach.
- Manages all departmental staff with the support of the Director.
- Monitors and coaches performance related matters.
- Conducts or assists with performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
- Participates in the development and management of fiscal operating and capital budgets through appropriate review and supervision of resource utilization inclusive of the development and implementation of cost savings, and revenue generation strategies to meet departmental/organizational goals.
- Plans and develops a comprehensive quality improvement/assurance program to evaluate organizational performance leading to the implementation of continuous quality improvement to better satisfy all client needs.
- Ensure all Departmental Audits/QA are completed.
- Participate in the Quarterly Regulator Departmental Tracers and Follow-up.
- Participates in the review, revision, and/or development of Departmental Policies & Procedures.
- Assists with parameter development for applicable software programs to advance the automation of nutrition /food service systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Hotel Management, Food Service Management, Dietetics, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive operations experience at the managerial level.
ServSafe Certification (completion within first six (6) months of hire)..
Required Licenses: ServSafe Certification

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $95,637.61 - $105,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
