Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director of Alumni and Volunteer Engagement is responsible for collaborating with campus partners to plug alumni into various volunteer opportunities. There will be a specific focus in collaborating with enrollment management. The Assistant Director is charged with executing programming that attracts and engages alumni and donors.
This position is tasked with managing our Cardinal Ambassador program which connects alumni, parents, and community members with various volunteer opportunities with Catholic University. The role will directly manage the alumni volunteer opportunities and coordinate with our parent and family relations team for parent outreach. The Cardinal Ambassador program will expand to meet the needs of Advancement and the University and this role will work to identify new opportunities to engage alumni with various ambassador roles.
This role will also work to identify new ways for alumni to volunteer in other ways that make a possible impact on the university and our goals. Additionally, this role will work directly with our office of diocesan engagement on the National Collection. A portion of this role will also focus on collecting data from campus partners with specific emphasis on our schools, to track when alumni are engaging with our campus partners. S/he will ensure all volunteer activity is coded in Raiser’s Edge. The Assistant Director will also serve in support of University fundraising efforts by conducting discovery visits with potential alumni volunteers and donors to the University.
Some travel is required with up to 20% of the time spent outside the office for events or visiting with alumni and friends of the university. Visits and events mostly consist of travel in the DMV area and East Coast with potential travel to the Midwest, West Coast, and South. The Assistant Director will also serve as staff liaison to designated offices/constituents; staff designated committees, and other duties as required.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: Up to $70,000.
Responsibilities:• Serve as the main point of contact for our Cardinal Ambassador Program, working directly
• with Enrollment Management and the Office of Diocesan Engagement to engage alumni,
• parents, and CUA community members to serve as our champions in our admissions process
• and the National Collection.
• Be the main point of contact with campus partners to collate and market various opportunities for alumni to give back as volunteers. Establish clear guidelines on how your role can collaborate with campus partners to engage alumni.
• Recruit alumni to serve as alumni champions and find ways that are meaningful volunteer
• activity for the alumni while advancing key priorities for Advancement and the University.
• Plan and implement programming, focusing on events that engage current and prospective
• donors.
• Conduct at least 75 visits with alumni; focusing on potential board members, speakers, and
• unassigned prospects for discovery.
• Utilize Raiser’s Edge (RE) database to document communications, visits, and other relevant information about donor and prospect moves management. Effectively communicate results of contacts to appropriate Advancement and University staff.
• Work with campus partners to identify future volunteer opportunities that can engage alumni
• in meaningful ways that aid our goals.
• Have input and responsibility for the planning of Cardinal Weekend activities and other university events as needed.
• Attend necessary board meetings and other key functions of the alumni engagement team as needed.
• Attend University events and functions, including but not limited to Cardinal Weekend and Commencement, representing the Division of University Advancement as needed.
• Take on new job-related projects as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree
• At least two (2) years’ in higher education, non-profit or similar work setting dealing with volunteer management, alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or related responsibilities.
• Previous alumni relations work or fundraising is desired.
• Experience in event management and volunteer management is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google for Education, and ability to learn new software programs and functions including the donor database and online community.
• Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle driven.
• An acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety.
• Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
