Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Information Technology supports Stetson University by providing vision, leadership, and effective operation of all aspects of the user support on campus. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for overseeing the Help Desk and Desktop Support, Event and Classroom Technology Support, Computer Imaging and Deployment, overall coordination of campus computer labs, faculty and staff computing needs, and student support. The Assistant Director plans, organizes, and manages the overall activities of the staff to provide superior internal customer service; and reviews, plans, and evaluates past, present, and future technology services and needs on campus and should have a vision for future needs that informs current purchases.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise desktop support and classroom technology areas and ensure that they are operating in an efficient and acceptable manner.
- Assist in all areas of deployment operations, including training, equipment maintenance, purchases, and customer complaints.
- Create and maintain appropriate computer usage policies.
- Assist the Executive Director of IT in the planning and implementation of operational strategic plans and budgets.
- Assist in the administration of various software packages deployed on campus.
- Assist in the support of the University printing solutions.
- Assist in Disaster Recovery planning and management.
Routine Duties and Responsibilities:
- Requires some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, and manual dexterity in operation of office equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of productive operations. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard and PC monitor. Perceptual demands for sound, form, texture, and depth.
- Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role include:
- In addition to technical skills, excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent organizational skills and attention to details, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students; high energy level, enjoy challenges, creativity and a fast-paced environment; display self-initiative and motivation.

Required Qualifications: This position requires:
·Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, related field or equivalent experience is preferred. A minimum of 3 years’ high-level user support management and experience in administration of user support, hardware and software deployments, computer inventory. Knowledge of the management, deployment, and integration of a diverse platform which consists of: OS (Microsoft Windows and MAC OS) and Office suite software is needed. Some Active Directory and email configuration experience preferred. Candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven record of excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
