Job Summary for Assistant Director of Nursing:

To assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department and to direct the in-service, employee health, infection control, and quality assurance programs in accordance with current State, Federal, and Local standards governing the facility and as may be directed by the Administrator to ensure the highest level of quality care is always maintained. 

Qualifications:

• Must be a Registered Nurse with license in good standing.

• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.

• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. 

• Required to have Infection Preventionist Certification

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, sales representatives, and the general public. 

• Previous experience in a supervisory role within a healthcare facility 

Responsibilities: 

• Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies etc..., as necessary.

• Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.

• Periodically meet assigned nursing staff in planning shifts, programs and activities

• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.

• Participate in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance programs.

• Ensures that all nursing service personnel are giving proper resident care and performing their respective duties in accordance with written policies, procedures, and manuals.

• All other duties as assigned.
