Position Summary:
The Assistant Director will, under general supervision from the Director of Student Experience, manage programs and services within the Office of Academic Programs and Student Experience (APSE). The Assistant Director will support student development, ensure efficacy of processes, and advocate for student needs. While this position will have the opportunity to support all Rice Business MBA Students, this position will be the primary point of contact for the Rice Business for Professionals - Weekend students as well as students in the Hybrid MBA program.
Specifically, this position advises student leaders and supports events/programs to ensure all activities support the educational mission of the institution. This includes co-advising the Rice Business Student Association for Professionals alongside the other Assistant Director, consulting with students about team dynamics with their peers in the MBA programs, developing and executing new programs and services, and enhancing other student-led initiatives.

Ideal candidates should have experience in student affairs and student life program delivery, preferably in a business or professional school environment, and be enthusiastic about making a direct positive impact in the lives of graduate business students.
Workplace Requirements:
On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at Janice and Robert McNair Hall. There may be opportunities for hybrid work in the future. This position will require being on campus at least two weekends (Saturday and Sunday) per month to support the Hybrid and Weekend students while they are on campus for classes. This schedule allows for a modified workweek Monday - Friday on the weeks wherein you are working on Saturday and Sunday.
Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range:
Minimum annual salary of $55,000 commensurate with experience * This is an Exempt position
*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years of administrative work experience
- In lieu of experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, and visual
- Excellent computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite
- Ability to apply student development and learning outcomes theories
- Advising high-level student leaders in 1-1 setting
- Ability to manage events and p ograms

Essential Functions:
- Supports department and area mission vision and goals
- Responsible for program logistics and budgeting and risk management
- Advises and guides student leaders in the planning and implementation of program and event logistics including risk management
- Develops, plans, and implements programming and outreach for student leaders and the campus community
- Coordinates leadership development programming for student leaders
- Responsible for logistics and marketing related to area(s) of responsibility
- Documents and assesses area functions on a regular basis
- May supervise staff/interns as necessary
Additional Functions:
- Supports department and area mission vision and goals, within the Student Experience team of the Office of Academic Programs and Student Experience
- Administer the PMBAW and HMBA student experience including collaboration with the Registrar, Events and Venue Management, and faculty.
- Craft cohort-specific events and programming to foster student belonging and engagement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Professional Weekend and Hybrid students.
- Manage the weekly rundown development for Hybrid and PMBAW students
- Prepare and deliver presentations for student leader training.
- Engage with PMBA-W and Hybrid students to predict and address concerns.
- Represent APSE at PMBA-W and Hybrid recruiting events.
- Provide tertiary support for Launch and Commencement.
- Must work some evenings to support student events and class schedules.
- Must work two weekends per month to support the Weekend and Hybrid students while on campus for classes
- Responsible for program logistics including budgeting and risk management

- Manage the CampusGroups platform, including access and logistical support

- Add new users to CampusGroups and liaise with support staff to address concerns.
- Advise 20 clubs, conduct one-on-one meetings with student leaders, attend leadership meetings, and provide financial, sponsorship and event planning support.
- Manage financial aspects for student clubs, including budgeting, reports, reconciliation, procurement, vendor management, and reimbursements.
- Provide administrative support, including phone and email responses, and front desk assistance.
