PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Exelon seeks an experienced environmental attorney to join our team. The Assistant General Counsel – Environmental will provide legal advice and representation to the Company’s business units on the full range of environmental matters, including permitting and compliance, contaminated site assessment and remediation, litigation, support of real estate and other transactions, and regulatory and legislative policy analysis and advocacy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Performs as a specialist in environmental law, providing legal counsel to Exelon Business Units on the full range of environmental matters.
2. Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments.
3. Oversees outside counsel and prepares budgets and early matter assessments.
4. Other projects/duties as assigned.

JOB SCOPE

• Manages relationships and matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
• Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
• Anticipates and understands trends in relevant areas of law and policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• An LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 to 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney in the area of environmental law.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience as in-house counsel or working with in-house counsel.
• Experience working with an environmental regulatory agency.
• Experience in the electric power and/or natural gas delivery industries.
