Expected salary range of $182,700 to $203,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Responsibilities:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is on Constellation’s state/retail regulatory and compliance team. Key responsibilities include advising on legal regulatory and policy matters relating to retail energy product offerings across the country, handling compliance issues and enforcement matters, providing general support to the broader retail organization, interfacing with, and advising key leaders and stakeholders throughout the commercial organization, and engaging with state commissions, staff and other administrative agencies and regulatory bodies on retail commercial matters.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, necessitating ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the Company's business; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly. Interprets and applies organization policy according to law. Represents Constellation in agency proceedings and/or relevant litigation.
- Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel.
- Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
- Projects / duties as assigned.
JOB SCOPE
- Provides legal advice and representation on complex state/retail regulatory and compliance matters.
- Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
- Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
- At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.
- Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
- Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal or state law.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- State & retail regulatory experience.
