About the Job
A New England inspired seafood restaurant in downtown Staunton, VA seeks an Assistant General Manager with Event Planning experience to join their team. A successful AGM will assist our General Manager in all areas of the restaurant operations.
Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be instrumental in coordinating, directing, and planning daily business along with all event operations. You will assist in managing a positive culture & work environment while ensuring we are exceeding Guest expectations. The areas of responsibility will include daily operations, maintaining high standards of food quality, sales building, and all event planning.

The areas of responsibility will include daily operations, maintaining high standards of food quality, sales building, and all event planning.
- Act as liaison between General Manager and entire team.
- Assist with various administrative and Human Resource tasks.
- Support GM in recruitment and training efforts.
- Responsible for weekly scheduling.
- Work with GM to achieve budget goals, generating revenue, controlling both purchase and labor expenses to meet or exceed forecasted performance.
- Create & execute effective outreach programs and generate revenue by executing all event booking and execution processes.
- Participate in weekly management & event staff meetings to execute successful private events.
- Reinforce progressive discipline based on company standards, handbooks, and policies.
- Motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Foster and support a culture of recognition for successful behavior.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with staff, guests and vendors.
- Possess exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Proficient in using restaurant management software, POS systems, and other relevant computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, responsible alcohol service and best practices in the restaurant industry.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Maintain and support our brand and company culture, as outlined in our policies.
- Support the companys commitment to local products, sustainable and responsible food practices.
- Uphold and champion company standards and policies in line with the company handbook.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by General Manager.

General Requirements:
- Computer skills required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
- Full-time availability, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Manager Serv Safe Certification
- Minimum 3-4 years management full-service restaurant environment.
- Minimum 1 year of event sales/planning experience in hospitality industry preferred.
