COMPENSATION:
The salary range is $60,000 - $85,000 a year, depending on experience. CLA offers a very generous benefits package that includes 401(k) with employer-paid contribution; low-cost health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) for employees and their dependents; paid leave (4 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, 12 sick days, and 13 holidays); and relocation stipend. CLA has a hybrid work environment and requires advocates to work in their assigned office at least three days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree; J.D. degree a plus.
- Previous experience working as an advocate or in a grants-related position in a civil legal aid program strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive reports.
- Effective organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Community Legal Aid, Inc. (CLA), the non-profit organization providing free civil legal services to low-income and elderly residents of Central and Western Massachusetts, seeks an Assistant Grants Manager who will play a pivotal role in reporting on and ensuring compliance with various grants. CLA administers over 80 grants from federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding sources.
The Assistant Grants Manager (AGM) will be a member of CLA's management team and will report to the Grants Manager. The AGM will take the lead on writing and editing grant reports; maintain thorough knowledge of, and help staff understand, funder-specific requirements; collaborate with staff to gather and maintain accurate data for grant reporting; ensure that all grant reports are accurate, timely and compliant with funder requirements; identify and communicate issues around compliance and timelines; make recommendations in order to maintain fidelity to the notice of award, including extensions and modifications; and serve as a liaison between the grant development team and other relevant stakeholders. The AGM will also assist in identifying grant opportunities and writing grant applications.
CLA has offices in Northampton, Pittsfield, Springfield, Fitchburg, and Worcester. The AGM will be based in one of CLA's offices and will be required to travel on occasion to other offices to meet with staff and other managers.
