JOB SUMMARY
The Direct Support Professional 3 is a direct-care staff position responsible for the operation, coordination, instruction and supervision of consumers in a residential setting. Individuals are supported to enhance life skills training while ensuring the protection of the individual’s rights. This position is responsible for assisting individual consumers in acquiring and maintaining self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in the community while promoting a safe and healthy living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains the facility (group home) and equipment in a safe and clean condition and reports repair needs promptly.
- Assist with preparing meals and meal planning and preparation as indicated by individual needs.
- Requires regular attendance and punctuality at work and monthly staff meetings. Employees must be at the assigned work location (which might vary depending on the program's needs).
- During hurricane season or inclement weather, you must evacuate or shelter in place based on the program's needs.
- Complete incident reports promptly.
- Complete and maintain training upon hire and annually.
- Acting Home Manager when Manager is out
- Able to make a schedule
- Able to train DSP1 and DSP2
- Able to complete 1st and 25 of the month reports accurately and objectively.
- Shift leader when on duty
- Documenting daily.
- Report to your shift relief staff daily upon entering and exiting the home.
- CMA certified, No med errors within 12 months, order medication, write changes on the MAR via nurse instruction.
- Implement quality individual treatment plans for consumers as requested or assigned.
- Provides for consumers' health and safety needs through preventive techniques and appropriate health services.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining records and reports including compliance with VOASELA, Inc. policies and licensing/funding agencies.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with individuals we serve, co-workers, family members of residents, and individuals in the community who may affect the well-being of the residents served.
- Informs House Manager of all needed safety and emergency/disaster supplies governmental agencies require, funding sources, and programs.
- Evacuate with Community Living Services consumers during hurricane season.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

· Two years experience or desire in working with individuals who have developmental/intellectual disabilities and other co-occurring diagnosis .
· Must be able to read, write, and understand English verbal and written instructions.
· Demonstrated ability in record keeping must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Maintain annual training for CMA
- Maintain annual training for peg feeding.
- Able to work at other Group homes when assigned.
- Ability to drive a twelve (12) passenger van with passenger lift mechanism is required.
- Must have a valid Louisiana Driver’s license
- Be insurable under the VOASELA, Inc.’s vehicle insurance.
- Must be 21 years of age to drive the agency van.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CardioPulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, pushing, bending, squatting, lifting, and pulling. Required to assist in moving consumers weighing up to 200lb, use a mop and household cleaners when cleaning residential homes.
