Position Summary
The Assistant Location Manager supports the Location Manager with the management of a client-based operation by successfully managing the client relationship at the local level. This position assists in maximizing labor efficiency while minimizing overhead and resource expenses. The Assistant Location Manager also conducts operational analyses, and audits current procedures to monitor and improve the efficiency of operations and client satisfaction. The Assistant Location Manager will spend most of his/her time in the office or warehouse maximizing the performance of the site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supporting the Location Manager in the meeting and exceeding of client service goals
- Driving and maintaining the Company culture, purpose, and core beliefs through hands-on training, effective onboarding, and selection of new Extra Milers within the location
- Oversee daily operations and ensure daily objectives are being met
- Act as a Location’s point of contact in absence of Location Manager
- Ensures the implementation and maintenance of Lean warehouse principles
- Enforce company compliance standards across the entire operation
- Maintaining a professional appearance always, while setting an example for employees alike
- Ensure the planning and scheduling of distribution services are executed in a timely manner
- Manage and perform activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation
- Support an environment that fosters open and positive team communication
- Build a strong rapport with our service providers and clients
- Communicate daily/shift goal of facility and group(s); device, communicate and implement plans to obtain operational goals; work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement; provide progress or constraint updates to management and implement corrective measures as needed
- Representing the Company by maintaining relationships with clients and ensuring contractual and ongoing relationships
- Enforce location safety management plans
- Supporting the Location Manager with ensuring successful compliance and performance of all vendors and service providers
- Manage a team of up to 4 direct reports (punctuality, performance PTO, discipline, coaching, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of warehouse, distribution, and/or supply chain operations with at least 1 year of managerial experience
- Ability to prioritize and organize work, along with a strong follow-up, analytical, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with customers, employees, peers, and management
- Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, workgroups, customers, supervisors)
- Work self-directed with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to operate, and self-driven to excel, in a fast-paced environment
- Capability to multi-task and highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel
- Exposure to Lean principles, systems, and tools
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The non-essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Speaking with Motor Carriers and ensuring compliance
- Communicating with other departments on updates, meetings, and other as needed
- Be able to make sound decisions
- Being able to adapt to any new planning or any changes
- Ability to embrace new technology
- Other duties as assigned
