About the Program and Position:
Cayuga Centers is actively seeking a compassionate Assistant Manager who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Using a person-centered and strength-based approach grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis, our team empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to choose their life goals, participate in their community, and enjoy meaningful activities tailored to their interests. By fostering relationships, building skills, and creating opportunities for engagement, we strive to create a supportive environment where the I/DD population can navigate their unique challenges and achieve their hopes and dreams. Under the supervision of the Director of Certified Programs, the Assistant Manager of I/DD Programs will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the programs.

How you get to use your skills…
Provide coaching and mentoring to direct care staff and provide feedback
Develop appropriate social and recreational activities for program participants
Provide direct care services, as needed
Contact families regularly to ensure that their needs are being met by the program(s) and reports findings to management
Monitor participant information documents to ensure accuracy and report discrepancies to management
Support various managerial responsibilities such as but not limited to: documentation and reporting, staff scheduling and management, inventory management of supplies, and informing upper management of any staff training needs.

This is a full-time, salaried position with a need for flexibility to meet program and individual service recipient needs

Required Experience:
Associate degree in a related field with a minimum of two years experience in providing services for persons with developmental disabilities preferred
High school diploma with a minimum of 5 years experience in providing services for persons with developmental disabilities required
Experience working with families in an outreach capacity
Experience in a day program or community-based residential setting for persons with disabilities
Self-directed and capable of working effectively within the context of limited supervision
Supervisory experience in a similar setting
Valid NYS Driver’s License
Ability to travel to other agency locations as required
Physical Requirements:
Drive and operate a motor vehicle with passengers for at least four consecutive hours
Participate in physical activities with the individuals attending program, including running, jumping, bending, and twisting
Stand/walk for a minimum of 6 hours on an 8-hour shift and 10 hours on a 12-hour shift
Lift 50 lbs
Walk up and down stairs repeatedly
