A well-established law firm based in Farmington Hills, MI, specializing in Consumer and Commercial Collections, is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its Pre-Judgment Department within Retail Litigation. This position is ideal for candidates with a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience and a strong interest in legal operations. The ideal candidate will possess keen attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to manage tasks both independently and collaboratively.
The Pre-Judgment Department plays a pivotal role in the collections process, managing cases before they reach the court judgment stage. The department is responsible for preparing legal documents, managing case dockets, and executing strategies to resolve outstanding debts. Key tasks include filing lawsuits, obtaining court orders for collections, and ensuring compliance with legal procedures. The goal of the department is to maximize recovery while adhering to legal and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of legal documents for filing lawsuits and obtaining court orders.
- Assist in the development and implementation of department projects, ensuring deadlines, progress, and deliverables are tracked effectively.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Pre-Judgment Department and other key departments within the firm.
- Monitor legal department performance metrics and KPIs, regularly identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Conduct case docket reviews, manage case inventory, and monitor progress.
- Develop and refine department processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in handling pre-judgment cases.
- Manage projects in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment while ensuring quality and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college coursework (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
