Position Summary: Assists the Store Manager in order to achieve or exceed planned sales and profits. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager has the responsibility for the overall operation of the store.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists the Store Manager in all areas of store operations.
• Basic understanding of the company policies and procedures and assists the Store Manager with enforcing these policies and procedures.
• Completes all daily tasks without disrupting normal store operations.
• Reports any issues with associates or operations of the store to the Store Manager
• Ensures that all cash handling procedures are followed according to company policy.
• Approves checks, refunds, voids and any other appropriate paperwork as designated per company policy and procedure.
• Follows through on making timely safe deposits of all store funds as designated per company policy and procedure.
• Assists Store Manager with completion of any tasks requested according to company’s guidelines.
• Participates in store meetings with store associates.
• Oversees and assists with the proper receipt of and processing of store freight shipments.
• Secures store keys at all times.
• Processes all daily and weekly paperwork and balancing of registers.
• Takes all markdowns and price adjustments in a timely manner according to company policy.
• Assumes responsibility for store physical inventory results.
• Assistant Managers are required to work their scheduled hours per week, and must be able to perform the essential physical functions listed below with or without an accommodation.

• In conjunction with Store Manager analyzes causes of inventory shrinkage and ensures loss prevention policies are followed.
• Ensures low inventory shrink results and high audit scores are achieved as acceptable per company policy.
• Maintains a clean, organized store and stockroom in accordance with current merchandising directives.
• Serves as a role model to associates in adhering to company policies, procedures and safety precautions.
• Maintains high standards of customer service as outlined in the company’s Customer FIRST Program and ensures all associates are providing this level of service at all times .
• Responsible for efficient use of budgeted payroll dollars/hours and utilizing associates with flexible availability.
• Maintains all appropriate documents required by the Operations, Merchandising, Human Resources, or Loss Prevention departments.
• Enforces procedures and policies that uphold the efficiency of the store including, but not limited to, customer layaways, customer refunds and exchanges.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Qualification Requirements

• High school diploma, three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and understand documents such as general correspondence, cash reports, markdown reports and office procedures/memos. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of the company. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Manual dexterity is required to operate registers and telephone
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and move fixtures
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
