Our Endoscopy Department is equipped to support exceptional care for patients with digestive and gastrointestinal disorders.
Department Overview:
Our gastroenterology team focuses on researching and treating diseases of the GI tract. We handle common conditions like abdominal pain, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, bleeding, constipation, and diarrhea in adults and children. Each provider specializes in complex cases involving the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, and motility disorders. Our team, including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and fellows, is committed to delivering safe, efficient, high-quality care to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant Nurse Manager delivers direct nursing care and serves as a clinical resource for staff. You will uphold service standards through performance metrics and collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop quality-focused, cost-effective initiatives for service improvement.
Working with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager creates a positive work environment that enhances patient and caregiver experiences. You will measure staff engagement, manage changes, support staff, and facilitate Shared Governance. Responsibilities include recruitment, staff development, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
As a visible leader, the Assistant Nurse Manager oversees patient progress and care outcomes. You will collaborate with various departments to meet patient needs and work with the Nurse Manager to resolve unit issues, ensuring necessary materials and equipment are available.
The Assistant Nurse Manager manages the unit's budget with the Nurse Manager, ensuring accountability through performance metrics. You will oversee financial resources, develop business plans, and address budget variances proactively.
In partnership with the Nurse Manager, you will drive performance improvement and develop plans to enhance patient care and the work environment. You will make operational decisions for timely patient flow and effective unit operations while adapting staffing plans to changing needs

- Develop staffing models for case volumes and acuity levels.
- Assess clinical processes for efficiency and implement changes.
- Supervise nursing staff during weekends and off shifts with the clinical supervisor.
- Ensure clinical documentation is accurate and complete.
Qualifications:
- Must have passed the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and hold a valid nursing license in Massachusetts.
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of nursing experience in the relevant patient population.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) required; BSN preferred.
