About the Job
The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System-Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager-MC/CHC for the Intermediate Care Unit.
The Assistant Nurse Manager-MC/CHC will assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services in the Intermediate Care Unit at Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC); acts for the Director of Nursing Services at RUHS-MC during absences or as directed; and performs other related duties as required.
The Assistant Nurse Manager-MC/CHC serves as the supervisory assistant to the Director at RUHS-MC, assisting in the overall supervision and coordination of operations and programs within the Intermediate Care Unit. The scope of responsibilities for this class spans all aspects of nursing care, 24-hours per day.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
+ 3 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in Intermediate Care/Critical Care
+ 3 years of recent leadership experience
+ BSN
+ BLS, ACLS & NIHSS
Work Schedule: Day shift, (3) 12-hour shifts including every other weekend and some holidays.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Support the Director of Nursing Services atRUHS-MC in planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of nursing personnel and/or programs within unit; act for the Director of Nursing Services during absences, or as directed.
• Evaluate or assist in evaluating the performance of subordinate personnel; assist in the scheduling of personnel and approving timecards; assist in the coordination of in-service educational programs and staff meetings; provide assistance to preceptors in developing unit orientation programs for new nurses or program staff.
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures, standards of care and practice, and in the monitoring of nursing care, in relation to those standards, to assure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), TitleXXII, and other regulatory standards such as those required byRUHS-MCor CHC program grants; advise staff on the interpretation and application of agency policies, laws, and regulations.
• Assist in preparing administrative records, reports, and correspondence related to budget, unit or program operations.
• Promote reliability in the acuity classification of patients and serve as a working charge nurse or supervisor, as needed to meet staffing requirements.
• Promote collaboration among other departments, units, programs, and physicians; represent assigned unit(s) or program(s) in committee meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPTION I
Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing is preferred.
Experience: Three years as an Acute Care Nurse or Clinic Health Nurse or equivalent, with at least one year of which included in charge or senior level responsibility (a bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of the required experience). For positions located in outpatient facilities, three years of supervised experience as a Registered Nurse or Interim Permit Nurse involved in the continuing treatment of clients in a non-acute healthcare facility may substitute for the required experience.
OPTION II
Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
Experience: One year as a Charge Nurse, Registered Nurse IV or V, or an equivalent supervisory position in a healthcare facility.
ALL OPTIONS
Knowledge of: Application of the nursing process; full range of registered nurse duties and responsibilities; principles and methods of supervision and training; basic management skills; problem solving techniques.
Ability to: Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate nursing services within specific unit(s); communicate effectively; positively manage change and conflict; interpret licensure and accreditation standards; analyze and draft department policies and procedures; apply productive problem-solving skills; write clear and concise reports; perform registered nurse responsibilities according to the State of California Nurse Practice Act; implement the nursing process.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Condition of Employment
In accordance with the California Department of Public Health Order dated August 5, 2021, and amended December 22, 2021, health care facility workers who work in indoor settings where care is provided to patients or where patients have access for any purpose must be vaccinated against COVID-19 as follows: first dose of a one-dose regimen or second dose of a two-dose regimen, by September 30, 2021. Effective March 1, 2022, all healthcare facility workers must have their booster, obtain the booster within 15 days of becoming eligible for one, or a declination form on file for the booster. Consideration may be given to candidates who are in the process of completing their vaccination regimen.
The Order allows for workers to be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing the facility with a declination form signed by the individual stating either of the following: (1) the worker is declining vaccination based on Religious Beliefs; or (2) the worker is excused from receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons. Workers who are exempted from the vaccination requirements must observe all other infection control requirements required by their work site.
A requirement of employment is to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or a completed COVID-19 Vaccination Declination form (filled out by the candidate and their medical provider as appropriate), during the pre-employment process. Failure to submit the required documentation may render a candidate ineligible to move forward in the process.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
- Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60): Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions. The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent.
- Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60): Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside. The employee contribution is seven (7%) percent.
- Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62): Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013. As of July 1, 2020, the employee contribution is 7.25% and subject to change annually.
A new member is defined as any of the following:
CalPERS refers to all members that do not fit within the definition of a new member as "classic members".
Contribution rates are subject to change based on the County of Riverside annual actuarial valuation.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY - LONG-TERM DISABILITY (LTD): Benefit pays 66.67% of earnings to a maximum of $10,000 per month; 30-day waiting period; pays to age 65. Benefit can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
