Job Description
The Assistant Nursing Director monitors and leads the nursing staff to ensure care standards are met, and the highest degree of quality care is provided at all times. This role is one of a team member, team leader, and supervisor, thereby supporting team members through direct line-level involvement and also from a leadership standpoint. In addition, the assistant collaborates with the Director of Nursing to plan, organize, develop, and direct overall operations of the Nursing Department. The Assistant Nursing Director also manages the resources within his/her control and assist others in managing their resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops and Maintains Infection Central Program and Initiatives compliant with Healthcare Regulations.
2. Supports regulatory compliance by leading and/or participating in inspections, audits, and actions plans in collaboration with appropriate committees.
3. Provides clinical oversight to include analysis of quality measures with heightened focus on skin integrity, return to hospital, and pain management.
4. Provides process improvement recommendations.
5. Supports clinical coordinators in employee performance monitoring and enhancement while directly managing unit clerks and PRN staff.
6. Participates and leads customer service satisfaction initiatives measured both internally as well as through monthly and annual third party surveys.
7. Acts as an initiative champion and identifies floor champions, as well as staff enhancement opportunities.
8. Manages inventory of medical equipment including rental equipment and nursing supplies to ensure internal budgetary compliance.
9. Participates in the hiring of associates, orientation of new associates, and promotion of employee engagement/morale.
10. Acts as back-up to Director of Nursing and assists in clinical on-call duties as scheduled. Functions as a charge nurse if indicated.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Current RN Licensure far State of Virginia, CPR certification, Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field, preferred.
Experience:
Prior long term care experience with 3-5 years of supervisory and leadership experience, preferably in a skilled nursing setting
Required Skills:
Innovative; active listener; ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment; well-organized; proficient in conflict resolution; experienced in team-building initiatives; well-versed in communication strategies
Preferred Skills:
Project management experience; PDSA process improvement
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to climb at least 3 flights of stairs.
• Ability to stand or walk for a period of at least 4 hours.
