Full Time Dean of Students Position
Full-Time Position: Extended Teacher Contract from August – June each year beginning August 1, 2023.
Reports To: The Principal and/or Pastors
The ideal candidate will foster positive relationships with students through discipline methods that support our Catholic values. He/she will possess the ability to recognize the whole child and take the initiative to involve other school staff as needed in discipline/attendance situations.
Qualifications:
• Valid Indiana Administrator license for elementary is preferred but not mandatory. Minimum of three, preferably five, years of teaching/administration experience.
• Must possess knowledge of Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Curriculum/Standards and Policies.
• Fulfill ongoing professional development relating to school safety and student discipline.
• Knowledge and practical application of research-based discipline programs and student behavior improvement plans.
• Knowledge of Catholic School Accommodation Plans (CAP), Behavior Plans, and progress monitoring and goal setting for students.
• Strong understanding of classroom management procedures relevant to student success.
• Experience managing student attendance policies and procedures.
• Highly effective problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with Diocesan and Huntington Catholic School policies; receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies and law enforcement; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints related to discipline.
• Supervises students during morning arrival, in the hallways, during lunch and at dismissal.
• Monitors and organizes attendance functions, prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts.
• Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
• Works with principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students. Serves on School Safety Committee. Completes required certification as a School Safety Specialist. Develops and keeps updated safety/crisis plans for emergency situations in collaboration with administration, Huntington Catholic safety committee, and public safety agencies.
• Obtains if needed and keeps current Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) certification.
• Attend required school meetings as designated by the principal.
• Attend extracurricular student activities (ie. school dances, athletic events, etc.) as designated by the principal.
• Assist as designated by the principal with student programs.
• Other duties may be assigned throughout the year by the principal.

• Required periodically to be outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Periodically may travel to meetings and work assignments.
