Salary/Pay Range : $62,000 – $65,000.Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary
The Department of Communication in the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level to begin August 2025 in Strategic Communication. We are seeking a candidate who is committed to teaching excellence and curricular innovation at the graduate and undergraduate levels, who pursues high-quality scholarly work in the communication discipline, and who is committed to demonstrating leadership and service within the department. The candidate will complement current courses and faculty research within the Professional Communication track, which includes Leadership, Organizational and Strategic Communication. At the graduate level, our M.A. in Communication is a fully online and growing program, where classes are taught in an 8-week online asynchronous format.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ The successful candidate will be an excellent educator committed to student learning both inside the classroom, and through individualized mentorship and guidance to graduate and undergraduate students. Tenure track faculty are also expected to maintain an active program of research, whether using qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies, published in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
+ The normal workload for this position is 40% teaching, 40% research and/or creative works and 20% service, with potential for modification to reflect duties.
+ The normal teaching load is 5 classes per academic year. Candidate should be able to teach courses in Integrated Marketing Communication, Social Media Management, Professional Communication Capstone, Crisis Communication, with the opportunity to teach in organizational and sports communication, and to develop and teach classes in their area of their expertise. Faculty in the department are encouraged to teach in various formats, including on-campus, online, and/or hybrid and in various timeframes such as 16-week, 8-week, and condensed formats.
+ The ideal candidate would be committed to engaging in leadership/service roles within the department and committed to furthering our collegial and collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in Communication, or a closely related field. ABD applicants are welcome but must have completed all doctoral course requirements and qualifying exams and must persuasively demonstrate that all degree requirements will be completed before the start of the Fall semester of 2025.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to student learning
+ Relevant teaching experience at the university level, including experience in teaching online courses or modules.
+ Ability to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
+ Achievement in scholarship such as journal articles, presentations at academic conferences, and/or books/book chapters
+ Commitment to pursuing service and engagement with the department, college, university, community, and profession.
