DUTIES :
(1) Maintain a record of performances that indicates continuing growth and national/international visibility; (2) teach studio cello, chamber music, string literature, string pedagogy, and other possible teaching assignments in support of the needs of the School of Music; (3) be involved in the Music Education area, through String Methods class teaching, supervision of student teaching, and outreach; 4) supervise undergraduate recitals, graduate recitals, and DMA documents; (5) recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate cello majors; (6) contribute to the coordination and advancement of the String Area curriculum; (7) serve on committees, including doctoral supervisory committees; and (8) perform other appropriate college, university, and professional service. The School of Music seeks to create a welcoming, rigorous and responsible environment that reaches across disciplines to foster highly adaptive creators and thinkers. The candidate appointed to this position will report to the Director of the School of Music.
QUALIFICATIONS :
(1) Earned terminal degree in music ( DMA , PhD, ABD will be considered) or its equivalent in professional experience; (2) artist-level performer; (3) demonstrated evidence of successful applied teaching at the university level. Experience in community-engaged teaching, or involvement in Music Educational activities will be highly valued in the successful candidate. The strongest candidates will recognize that music has a strong potential for social change and community engagement and their work will reflect this.
