The Neurohospitalist Division at Columbia University Irving Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital is an exciting and dynamic division fostering exciting collaborations in the clinical, education and research domains of inpatient neurology. The Program in Neuroinfectious Diseases in the Department of Neurology is a unique program which aims to 1) provide exceptional specialized care to patients with complex neuroinfectious diseases, 2) develop and lead research activities on the prevention, early diagnosis and management of neuroinfectious diseases, 3) provide specialized educational activities to our trainees in neuroinfectious diseases and related disorders. As a tertiary care center serving a diverse, underserved and large immigrant community in New York City, the inpatient neurology service at Columbia University Irving Medical Center-New York Presbyterian serves a significant number of patients with neuroinfectious diseases, including HIV-associated, transplant-associated, those with acute and chronic meningoencephalitis, and tropical neuroinfectious diseases. The position provides the opportunity to build close collaborations with faculty in the Department of Neurology and the Division of Infectious Diseases, and leverages unique resources at Columbia University including the internationally known Mailman School of Public Health and the Columbia World Projects.
Roles would include being an active neurohospitalist in our thriving division, participating in inpatient consults on neuroinfectious diseases and related disorders, and providing education to our trainees in neurological infections. There are opportunities to participate in our multidisciplinary HIV clinic and develop a specialized outpatient neuroinfectious disease clinic for interested candidates. There are also opportunities to develop and participate in active neuroinfectious diseases research, including leveraging existing research infrastructure, and developing independent research projects. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in emergency neurology and neuroinfectious diseases. Specialized training and clinical experience across the spectrum of neuroinfectious diseases is an added incentive.
The successful candidate for this position will be appointed as an Assistant Professor of Neurology (Tenure Track).
Practice sites include Manhattan and Westchester County, NY
Minimum Degree Required: M.D. or D.O.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must be board certified or eligible in Neurology and possess a NYS State license. Must be able to meet credentialing requirements of the Medical Staff Office
