GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Plans, designs, produces and manages civil planning reporting and construction documents from
conceptual phase through construction phase by utilizing software and modeling programs.
Completes assigned tasks that aid CEI in achieving its stated long-term strategic objectives. Displays
an understanding of CEI's Guiding Principles and stated Vision Statement when performing the
following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures
while using judgement when making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear
and specific objectives and require investigation of limited number of variables. Receives instructions
on specific objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Assistance given for unusual
problems and normally reviewed for application of sound professional judgement. Performs work
involving conventional plans, technical reports, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with
relatively few complex features for which there are few precedents. May be assisted by designer,
engineers or technicians and be responsible for a multiple phases of a project.
2. Assist with preparing and in reviewing cost estimates/projects budgets by estimating projected
project hours. Follows CEI accounting processes including pre-billing forms, review of final invoices,
and addressing client and sub-contractor invoice questions. Reviews activities, costs, operations, and
forecast data to determine project's progress in terms of timeline, costs, and client expectations.
3. Works with Sr. Project Engineer the Project Engineer in developing reports, specifications,
preliminary hydrology/drainage analysis, plans, plat design, construction schedules, environmental
impact studies, and designs for civil or landscape projects.
4. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering
and design documents for review and other uses. Follows CEI design standards when completing
project assignments. Follows CEI Quality Control processes including the revision diary when
completing project assignments.
5. As directed, communicate with clients, local agencies, peers, and other project team members to
address plan changes, problems, and provide project status reports to involved parties. Attends
regularly scheduled meetings and called ad-hoc meetings. Works with peers and supervisors in a
manner that promotes team work and the overall success of the company as a whole.
6. Identifies, seeks, and attends continuing education seminars and classes to receive additional
knowledge and/or expertise or to meet licensure requirements.
7. Assists in training and mentoring Civil Designers, other Assistant Project Engineers and Interns.
8. Assist with coordinating work with Civil Designers and Interns.
9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
B.S. in an Engineering discipline plus 2 years related experience and/or training.
