THE OPPORTUNITY
NV5’s Owner’s Rep Group is seeking a part time (20 hours per week) Assistant Project Manager/Site Representative to be on site and provide oversight for an exciting new project in Chicopee, Massachusetts. This individual will be responsible for monitoring construction progress, quality, and safety while maintaining strict adherence to project timelines. The ideal candidate is seeking an early career position and may have 1-2 years of on-site project management experience with a background in low voltage security system installations and project management.
The ideal candidate will possess a confident personality with the ability to communicate clearly and a desire to solve problems and learn in a hands-on role. Self-motivation will be a key factor for the candidate to succeed at NV5, while also having the ability to listen and adjust based on project and client needs. A background in low voltage security system installations and project management and/or construction is great, but that should not preclude other candidates from submitting their resumes as we also look for the ability to be very flexible and adaptive to new concepts and differing personalities. We ultimately want team members who enjoy building relationships, self-motivation, and delivering strategic/creative solutions in a team atmosphere.
This role will be on-site in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Responsible for on-site oversight of all activities associated with assigned projects.
- Monitor and report on the progress of construction activities.
- Review and evaluate contractor work to assess quality, completeness, and adherence to project schedules.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including contractors, architects, engineers, and project managers, to address issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Capable of reading and reviewing plans and specifications.
- Prepare and develop routine reports and correspondence.
- Perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of site inspections, observations, and discrepancies.
- Provide direction to and resolve problems amongst subcontractors and vendors as needed.
- Document job progress as instructed by Project Managers.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
- Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction, keeps commitments, completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
- Communicates effectively with Project Managers, clients, and contractors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Other duties as necessary and assigned.
- Background in low voltage security system installations and/or construction management.
- A qualified candidate for this position will have one (1) to two (2) years of on-site project management and construction oversight experience.
- Must be able to travel to project sites both in and out of state, as needed or required. May require overnight travel on occasion.
- Experience with MS Office, Bluebeam, scheduling software, and budget management software is preferred.
- Must possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices in construction management.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, vendors, and clients.
- Must always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
