Operating year-round, and serving membership of approximately 750 families, the Club features an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course, two restaurants, as well as swimming, tennis, and fitness amenities. We are also the proud host of the Sanford International PGA Champions Tour Tournament.
We are currently seeking a driven and team-oriented hospitality professional to join our management team. Minnehaha Country Club’s Assistant Restaurant Manager will assist in leading the day-to-day operations of The Grill Restaurant, our casual restaurant and mixed golf grill, as well as a seasonal on-course beverage cart. The Grill boasts scratch made seasonal cuisine, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner year-round. Our beverage program features premium spirits, craft cocktails, and a comprehensive wine list. The position is available immediately for the successful candidate.
As The Assistant Restaurant Manager you will report to The Grill Restaurant Manager and will directly oversee the daily operation of The Players’ Grill Restaurant and seasonal beverage cart. You will join a cohesive management team and work collaboratively to provide exceptional service to the members of Minnehaha Country Club and their guests. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will assist in the supervision and ongoing training/professional development for restaurant service staff and help develop and implement programs to enhance the member dining experience and drive revenues through service excellence and increased dining traffic. In this position, you will actively promote the Minnehaha Country Club brand, serve as an ambassador for the club, and operate at all times with the highest degree of professionalism.
To be considered, we require that you have a high school diploma or GED, however a, associate’s degree with concentration in hospitality or business is preferred. We also require that you have 2 or more years of full-service, a la carte restaurant/dining service experience. Supervisory experience and experience managing beer, wine, and spirits programs is highly desirable.

Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour + bonus potential
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Able to lead staff through all a la carte steps of service; sets and maintains consistent excellence in service standards.
- Hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates restaurant and beverage cart staff.
- Collaborates with management team to maintain and grow the club’s wine and beverage program, superior in quality and selection to competing local restaurants.
- Plans restaurant set-up based on anticipated restaurant traffic and member needs.
- Collaborates with management team to develop and maintain the restaurant reservation system.
- Greets and seats members and guests.
- Inspects restaurant and beverage cart employees to ensure that they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times.
- Assist Restaurant Manager in the regular analysis of revenue and expense reports to monitor and ensure the restaurant operates favorably to budget; collaborates to make adjustments necessary to achieve financial goals.
- Collaborates with management team to plan the annual operating budget for The Grill and beverage cart for submission to F&B Director in advance of budget deadlines.
- Confirms time, attendance and hours worked and approves departmental payroll prior to submitting it to the Accounting Office.
- Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours, schedules, pay rates, job changes, tip pools, etc.
- Receives and resolves complaints concerning restaurant and beverage cart service.
- Serves as liaison between the restaurant and kitchen staff.
- Assures that all side-work is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
- Assists in the planning and execution of pre-meal meetings with restaurant personnel; relays pertinent information such as house count and menu changes, special member requests, etc.
- Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of restaurant, related storage areas, equipment and fixtures; checks the maintenance of all equipment in these areas and reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
- Trains staff on all aspects of the POS system.
- Assures that the dining room and other club areas are secure at the end of the business day.
- Maintains an inventory of dining room items including silverware, coffee pots, water pitchers, glassware, flatware and china, salt and pepper holders, sugar bowls and linen and ensures that they are properly stored and accounted for.
- Serves as Club’s manager on duty; may serve as opening and closing manager as directed.
- Works with culinary team to update, review and print all restaurant and lounge menu changes.
- Assures that local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Assists in service and tableside cookery, as needed.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings.
- Performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by Club Management.
To be successful in the position, you need
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Comprehension of detailed instructions, and the ability to compose professional correspondence is required.
- Ability to effectively present information in a variety of settings, from one-on-one to audiences of 10+ persons.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, e-mail, web browsing, and Point of Sale Software; competency in Jonas Club Management Software preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires a minimum of 45 hours per week. Must be available for holidays, evenings, and weekends if scheduled.
- Holiday work will be required from time to time.
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds individually.
- Push, pull or lift 160 pounds or more (equivalent of 1/2bbl beer keg) with assistance.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in indoor and outdoor restaurant environments, which may be cold, hot, humid and/or noisy.
- Some local travel may be required.
