Job Summary:
The Assistant Retreat Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the Retreat Director to ensure the smooth and successful operation of Wild Rice Retreat. This position involves overseeing key departments including Front Office, Guest Experience, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Banquets, Sales and Catering, Activities, and Engineering. A significant part of the role is to emphasize providing an exceptional guest experience while maintaining financial accuracy and operational efficiency. In alignment with the retreat's unique culture, the Assistant Retreat Director will also be instrumental in fostering an environment that embodies the retreat's core pillars of Nourishment, Movement, and Expression. This role is not just about managing hotel operations but also about nurturing a holistic and enriching experience that reflects the essence of Wild Rice Retreat's commitment to personal growth and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Collaborate with managers and supervisors to enhance hotel operations. Establish and enforce consistent operating procedures.
- Team Leadership: Motivate staff to create a productive and safe work environment. Responsible for effective staff scheduling to meet guest needs.
- Revenue and Sales Strategy: Participate in hotel revenue management and sales strategies, including daily business reviews and annual marketing plans.
- Training and Standards Compliance: Ensure staff, supervisors, and management are well-trained and comply with safety codes and OSHA guidelines. Conduct daily meetings for consistent communication.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee room and public area cleanliness and maintenance. Manage inventory for housekeeping and front office, and collaborate with the engineering team for room maintenance.
- Market Awareness: Stay informed about competition, local events, and hospitality trends.
- Flexible Scheduling: Maintain a flexible schedule to assist with staff coverage and operational needs.
- Guest Service and Satisfaction: Drive improvements in guest service scores, handle feedback and special requests, and maintain a guest-focused approach.
- Financial and Budget Management: Contribute to the financial oversight and budgeting process, ensuring hotel profitability.
- Community Engagement: Represent the hotel positively in community events and act as a professional ambassador of the hotel and management company.
- Strategic Planning: Assist the Retreat Director in developing and executing strategies to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Take on additional responsibilities as needed, which may vary based on skills, hotel needs, and directives from Charlestowne Hotels.
Job Requirements:
- College degree with three years of experience in hotel operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with significant attention to detail.
- Comprehensive understanding of hotel profitability and budget processes.
- Proficiency in computer skills, with a preference for experience in Hotel Information Systems.
