Job Title: ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR – Day Program

SUMMARY
The Day Program Assistant Supervisor provides oversight of the day-to-day operation of the My Day program, including ensuring staffing ratios are maintained, training, and supervision of Direct Support Professionals. They manage caseloads and monitor program quality, client and family satisfaction, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with funding source and accreditation standards.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supports participants in arranging and carrying out activities in the community.
• Foster friendships within the community.
• Arranges and provides transportation as needed.
• Gives support on an individual basis to participants in making informed choices, growing in self-esteem and personal dignity, and achieving community integration and participation.
• Supports participants in achieving the Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals. This includes conscientious and sufficient documentation each day and assurance that the individual has the opportunity to achieve the goals included.
• Respect and advocate for the capabilities, dignity, and rights of each participant. Reports any infringement on human rights to the supervisor immediately.
• Stay informed about the rights of individuals in developmental disabilities programs.
• Ensures that the participant is informed of their rights, in a manner of communication understood by the participant.
• Ensures the health and welfare of participants through teaching and support in taking care of personal care needs, spiritual and emotional needs, socialization, and other areas as needed.
• Contributes to an environment emphasizing individualized, person-centered activity.
• Keeps detergents, chemicals, medications, and other potentially harmful materials out of participants’ reach unless the resident has demonstrated safe-handling skills.
• Fulfills requirements of certification, OSHA and ADA. Follows directions for use of equipment, detergents, and chemicals.
• All Other Duties as Assigned.
SPECIFIC DUTIES include the following:
At the beginning of each day, become familiar with any special situations of each individual through observation and communication with staff and individuals supported. Be aware of the programming and activity needs of each person supported.
• Promote individualized person-centered activities and community integration and membership.
• Ensure clean and tidy standards are met monthly including but not limited to checking emergency preparedness kits, ensuring medications are properly locked, and general upkeep and cleanliness of the building.
• Know and observe guidelines for drills and emergencies. Be prepared to initiate a drill when needed.
• All forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation are unacceptable. Report any observation or suspicion of either to the Director of Day Services.
• Safeguard confidentiality and civil rights of persons supported and coworkers. The guideline within the agency is, “Does this person need to know?” The guideline outside of the agency is, “Has the guardian and/or individual provided a release of information to share information with this person or agency?”
• Follow the guidelines of OSHA Universal Precautions in handling soiled laundry, cleaning, personal care, and first aid. Wear gloves as required. Observe correct operating procedures and safety precautions in use of chemicals and equipment.
• Supervise and provide feedback to direct support professionals. Communicate feedback to the Program Manager regarding progress and needs of persons served and support staff, and scheduling or other challenges.
• Show initiative and creativity in problem solving.
• Monitor documentation on a regular basis to check for quality and that documentation is accurate and complete.
• Train staff on documenting in Therap and entering data into the Behavioral Support Plan QR codes
• Open/close as My Day facility as needed needed.
• Work on billing numbers and provide them to PM and PD monthly.
• Check attendance at least weekly. Ensure absences are entered on Therap.
• Help train staff in how to fill out a general event report (GER) on Therap when needed.
• Assist staff if changes need to be made on GER’s on Therap created by that staff.
• Ensure employee hours are recorded appropriately and pay periods ending the approval process are completed according to the pay schedule.
• Update the assignment board.
• Assist with coordination of 7a-9:15a shifts. Participate in on-call rotation.
• Complete monthly summary reports.
• Observe medication passes for new employees and report these passes to the VP of Health Services
• Monitor the MAR and medications for errors, reordering, and updates. Create a MAR as needed.
Physical Expectations
This position requires extended periods of sitting with periods of walking and standing. It may also require bending, kneeling, and/or stooping and climbing stairs. It may require light to heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds independently, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs. The position will require occasional physical intervention if confronted by a person displaying combative or potentially dangerous behavior. An individual in this position may need to drive a vehicle to access community outings and resources.
Working Conditions
Office/home environment with noises from those we support, appliances, and telephones. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a High School diploma or verification of a GED.
• Must obtain and maintain training and certification in all required areas such as CPR, First Aid, Level I Medication Administration, MANDT, Abuse & Neglect and Behavioral Support.
• Must obtain a Class E driver’s license during New Hire Orientation– must carry minimum coverage applicable by law for auto insurance.
• Must demonstrate safe practices in all areas and exemplify professional standards.
• Must have knowledge of Life Unlimited organizational structure, policies and procedures, needs and preference of persons supported, and staff needs and preferences.
• Must demonstrate the ability to write clean, accurate reports in a timely manner.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and must have reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
• Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination.
