Job Summary
The Assistant Vice President for Enterprise Applications and Services
oversees the development, maintenance, and support of applications and
systems crucial to various University functions, including Alumni
Development, Campus and Student Life, Communications, Research
Administration, Financial Services, and Facilities Services. This role
is accountable for data services, website development, and consolidated
reporting provided by the central IT organization.
The Assistant Vice President collaborates with functional leaders to
develop technology roadmaps and aligns staff skills with strategic
goals. The role provides leadership and vision for business solutions,
develops business cases for technology investments, maintains responsive
services, and manages a budget model leveraging operating funds,
recharge revenue, and capital funding. Additionally, the role involves
coordinating special projects and ensuring organizational compliance
with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with functional leadership to create annual development
plans for each major system.
- Contributes to developing high-level IT Services department goals
and manages resources to achieve these goals.
- Develops department goals aligned with IT Services and institutional
priorities.
- Oversees the creation of professional development plans for staff
and participates in performance management.
- Leads transformation efforts with Agile development and develops
processes and tools.
- Works collaboratively with other IT departments to achieve unit and
departmental objectives.
- Acts as a liaison to Financial Services, HR Services and Payroll,
University Research Administration, Facilities Services, Campus and
Student Life, Alumni Development, and other Administrative and
Academic Offices.
- Builds effective working relationships with colleagues across the IT
Services department.
- Works through governance processes to prioritize and manage
workloads effectively.
- Develops effective relationships with distributed IT staff and
leadership.
- Identifies and addresses issues impacting the successful completion
of the Assistant Vice President's commitments.
- Collaborates with IT Services Senior and Operational Leadership
teams on planning, executing, and managing ITS projects.
- Coordinates projects or commitments and direct reports, including
special projects.
- Participates in Operational Leadership Group, Alumni Relations and
Development Working Group, Student Registration Leadership Team,
Enterprise Applications and Services Leadership Team, and other
committees as required.
- Leads strategic projects such as the use of artificial intelligence
(AI) for administrative applications, implementation of a
state-of-the-art student system, and development of master data
management strategy.
- Manages employees through senior managers. Oversees the development
of performance goals, establishes the structure for allocating
resources an assessing division or University policies.
- Oversees the planning, execution, and management of IT Services
projects. Directs front-line troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related
field.

Education:
- Master's degree in computer science, information technology,
business administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 15 years of experience with enterprise-scale administrative
systems, including implementing large-scale application systems using
various database technologies and hardware platforms.
Minimum three years of experience in a R1 university managing a mix of
custom-developed and third-party software solutions, including
client-server, SaaS, Cloud, and web technologies.
