Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Represent clients in court or before government agencies, present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
2. Select jurors, argue motions, meet with judges, and question witnesses during the course of a trial.
3. Study and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
4. Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, case management statements, and trial briefs.
5. Conduct research and analysis of legal problems.
6. Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for corporations and individuals.
7. Handle consumer financial litigation and class action cases with diligence and professionalism.
8. Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
9. Negotiate settlements in civil disputes.
10. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest developments in law and in the legal profession.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
2. Must be admitted to practice law in the jurisdiction.
3. Minimum of 1-5 years of experience in general litigation.
4. Proven experience with consumer financial services litigation and class action cases.
5. Excellent negotiation, research, and communication skills.
6. Ability to interpret and understand laws and regulations.
7. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
8. Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
9. Ability to handle a significant caseload and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
10. High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
