About the Job
We are hiring Senior Associate Attorney & Associate Attorney for our client based in Orange, California.
Location & Mode of Work:
Fully Remote (must be located in PST – ideally California or Washington, but must be licensed to work in CA).
Experience Requirements:
- Senior Associate Attorney: 7+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on litigation, legal ethics, professional responsibility, or disciplinary defense.
- Associate Attorney: 4+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on litigation, legal ethics, professional responsibility, or disciplinary defense.
- California State Bar experience preferred.
Position Summary:
This role focuses on representing established and aspiring attorneys in applications and disciplinary proceedings before state bar associations. You will provide legal counsel and develop defense strategies, ensuring that attorneys navigating ethical matters receive fair treatment and protection of their professional rights.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Representation:
- Provide legal advice to attorneys facing disciplinary proceedings, explaining their rights, obligations, and potential consequences.
- Advise on ethical obligations, professional responsibility, and compliance with state bar association rules.
- Represent attorneys in disciplinary hearings, oral arguments, and related events before state bar associations, presenting strong defense arguments and cross-examining witnesses.
Case Investigation & Legal Documentation:
- Investigate complaints by reviewing documents, conducting witness interviews, and analyzing the facts of alleged ethical violations.
- Develop defense strategies, prepare legal briefs, motions, and responses, ensuring compliance with state bar regulations.
- Engage in settlement negotiations with state bar associations, aiming for favorable resolutions that protect attorneys’ interests.
Growth & Development:
- Assist with creating training materials and presentations to support the firm’s growth.
- Stay informed on changes in state bar regulations and developments in legal ethics.
- Participate in legal associations and professional networks to remain connected with industry developments.
Qualifications:
- Strong ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, research, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of legal billing systems like Clio is a plus.
- Adaptable, open to feedback, and eager to learn.
Work Environment:
This is a fully remote role, with occasional offsite or in-person meetings. You will be required to maintain a home office setup.
Physical Demands:
The role requires frequent use of a computer and regular communication with clients and colleagues.
