Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is looking for a Chemist or Chemical Engineer to join the Reactor Plant Chemistry group supporting the U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, submarines, prototypes and moored training ships.
The successful candidate will
- Resolve reactor plant chemistry and cleanliness issues.
- Work with a multi-disciplined team of engineers and scientists to test and implement chemistry analysis methods and equipment.
- Support deployed analysis systems by designing tests, qualifying next-generation hardware, writing and maintaining procedures, responding to emergent fleet requests for technical assistance, and evaluating system data.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of small and large projects which require interfacing with various NNL organizations and external organizations.
The successful candidate should be able to work efficiently on multiple tasks and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of nuclear power plant systems.
- Analytical chemistry, or inorganic chemistry coursework and laboratory experience.
- Experience data processing software and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills written and oral.

Pay Range
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
