SALARY:
$195,500 to $244,400+ per year, the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan. RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose:The Associate Dean of Clinical Education is the principal clinical administrative leader responsible for the development, management, and supervision of the Department of Clinical Education and its role in meeting RVUCOM's mission in the clinical training years. This includes program development and implementation, delivery of osteopathic curriculum and assessment;creation and enforcement of policies and procedures within the RVUCOM clinical space; recruitment and development of clinical preceptors and sites for all clinical programs; budget preparation and management;collaboration with internal and external staff, faculty, and/or administrators; and direction of student professional and career advising including residency placement activity (NRMP Match, ERAS, ResidencyCAS and other national platforms application support and advising In collaboration with the Registrar generate MSPE; Military Match civilian military placement in collaboration with Military Pathway leadership, etc.). The Associate Dean of Clinical Education is also responsible for supporting the educational programs of all programs within the University that require clinical education. Direct reports include: RVUCOM Clinical Education Assistant Deans, Director of Clinical Education, Director of Clinical Curriculum Management, RVUCOM Clerkship Directors
Essential Job Functions:- Provide direction, guidance, and supervision to Assistant Deans, clerkship directors, regional directors, site directors, adjunct faculty, staff and students in planning, developing and implementing the RVUCOM clinical training program, including curriculum and assessment for program, preceptors, and students, in the clinical years.
- Provide the supervisory oversight for all clinical externship training sites, including quality of clinical experiences, patient care volume, and quality clinical preceptors.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures for operations of the department, disciplinary measures for students, remediation plans and programs for students, professionalism and communication expectations.
- Evaluate need-based purchases and services and oversee budgets for the Clinical Education Department including salaries, educational material, faculty development, telecommunication and audio-visual resources, travel, stipends, food, on campus and off campus events, and any other departmental financial requirements.
- Collaborate with other RVU departments and programs (e.g., PA, MSBS, DNAP) to ensure all aspects of RVU's vision and mission are achieved, which includes, open communication and integration of student clinical externship assignments from other RVU programs (e.g., PA, DNAP), and sharing of clinical education resources as necessary.
- Participate in university service (interviewing applicants, serving on committees, etc.) and other duties assigned by the Dean.
- Oversee the Clinical career counseling for students of RVUCOM.
- Oversee GME development across the clinical education network, in conjunction with university leadership.
- Works collaboratively with the clinical education department at RVU-MCOM.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical medical education system.
- Demonstrate knowledge of undergraduate and graduate medical education.
- Possess expert proficiency in reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Possess proficiency in negotiations.
- Track record of leadership on Inclusive Excellence initiatives to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff and students.
- Terminal Degree (MD,DO) from a COCA or LCME accredited medical school.
- AOA or ABMS board certifications at some point in their career.
- Unrestricted license at some time in their career, free from disciplinary actions or sanctions while licensed.
- Two (2) years of academic experience as faculty of a medical school or graduate medical education program.
- Three (3) years of academic leadership experience as a department chair, assistant or associate dean, Director of Medical Education, Designated Institutional Official, program director or equivalent.
- Demonstrations of professional organization involvement and leadership.
- Demonstrations of scholarly activity, research, service to public or profession.
