Job DescriptionThe Associate Director, Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) Discovery Transactions will be responsible for overseeing and negotiating a broad spectrum of transactions supporting our company's Research Laboratories in the discovery and preclinical stage across in support of therapeutic and functional areas with external academic, government, and industry partners worldwide.This position will report to a Director in the BD&L Discovery Transactions group.Primary responsibilities:Collaborating closely with our company's research scientists, management, legal and external partners to negotiate material transfers, licenses, evaluations, consortia, research collaborations and other agreements to establish external scientific partnershipsNegotiating with external counterparts to execute appropriate agreements in a timely manner in support of our Research Division objectives and compliance policiesEducating and influencing our Research Division scientists and management in the executional and relational aspects of external partnering Participation and networking at industry-academia professional events to establish our Research Division as a partner of choiceLocation/Commute:We offer a Hybrid setup, a combination of 3 days in-office/on-site and 2 days off-site/remote) This position cannot be 100% remote.This role is based at our Headquarters site in Rahway (NJ, USA) or from our PA sites in WestPoint with travel to NJ site on as need basis.Education:Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.An advanced degree in business, law or science is a plusRequirements: A minimum of 5 years of work experience in one or more pharmaceutical or biotech companies with deep understanding of scientific principles and the drug-development process.Proven experience in transactions with academic institutions; contract drafting and negotiation experience desiredDemonstrated leadership, judgment, and creativity in applying analytical frameworks and solutions to business- and discovery-stage scientific issuesDemonstrated ability to partner with internal & external client groupsCandidate must demonstrate superb interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without authorityExceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills are essentialSome travel (<10%) will be required.NOTICEFORINTERNALAPPLICANTSIn accordance with Managers' Policy - Job Posting and Employee Placement, all employees subject to this policy are required to have a minimum of twelve (12) months of service in current position prior to applying for open positions.If you have been offered a separation benefits package, but have not yet reached your separation date and are offered a position within the salary and geographical parameters as set forth in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) of your separation package, then you are no longer eligible for your separation benefits package
