Description:THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Director/Career Coach of Career and Professional Development (CPD) plays a pivotal role in supporting Oxford College students' professional growth by providing guidance, resources, and programs that help them explore career paths, and develop skills, to secure internships and employment. This position involves managing career development initiatives, collaborating with faculty and staff to integrate career development into the academic experience for first-and second-year Oxford students.
Key Responsibilities
Student Advising and Career Coaching:
- Provides individual and group career coaching to students on career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and networking.
- Conducts career assessments and helps students interpret the results to make informed decisions.
- Guides students in selecting internships, jobs, or other career opportunities that align with their academic background, interests, and professional goals.
Program Development:
- Designs, implements, and manages career development workshops, events, and programs such as skill-building sessions and networking events.
- Develops resources and tools that help students develop the competencies needed to succeed in today's job market.
- Collaborates with academic departments to integrate career readiness programming into the curriculum.
- Assists the Director of Career and Professional Development and other CPD staff with special projects and events.
Collaboration and Outreach:
- Collaborates with academic advisors, faculty, student organizations, and campus partners to promote career development initiatives and integrate career education into student life. Assists in marketing CPD services and programs to students, faculty, and alumni through social media, and other communication channels.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in higher education, psychology, counseling, or a related field, and three years of experience in a college career center or related setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency in career management platforms (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity,) and technology used in career services. Familiarity with career assessment tools (e.g., Focus2, Strong Interest Inventory, CliftonStrengths) and Life Design framework.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
