Associate Director, Celebrity Engagement - Share Our Strength

The Associate Director, Celebrity Engagement is responsible for leading and implementing national celebrity, athlete and influencer engagement strategies that elevate awareness of Share Our Strength’s mission and initiatives, including the No Kid Hungry campaign, among a national audience. Candidates should have a communications and/or marketing background with leadership experience and a proven track record of collaboration and building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. In-house public relations or talent agency experience is strongly desired. The successful candidate will bring a strong sense of hospitality and appreciation of teamwork, a strategic mindset with a tactical approach, creative thinking, strong writing ability and presentation skills, and proficiency balancing a diverse set of priorities that may include—but is not limited to—developing multiyear stewardship plans, building No Kid Hungry’s profile within the entertainment and sports industries, planning custom and turn-key activations for celebrity supporters, message and media trainings and events.

This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C., (Hybrid- 2days per week); but could be fully remote for the right candidate living outside of the D.C. area 30 miles or more. The position offers a salary range of $100k-$110k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set the vision and lead celebrity and influencer relations programming, including recruitment, stewardship and meaningful engagement strategies that are mutually beneficial for Share Our Strength and our champions.
• Coordinate with national PR firms, setting the strategy and operationalizing story ideas in order to secure national coverage in entertainment, celebrity, and general lifestyle consumer press.
• Lead site visits, impact trips and other activities that deepen celebrities’ understanding and engagement in our work.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agencies, celebrities, influencers and talent representatives.
• Craft and edit written materials, including talking points, press releases and toolkits.
• Manage Senior Manager, Celebrity & Media Engagement, and budget lines.
• Travel up to 25%

SUPERVISION:

• This position has supervisory responsibilities over the Senior Manager, Media & Champion Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 8+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, entertainment, or related industries.
• Agency and/or non-profit experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing multi-faceted communications strategies and campaigns, with an emphasis on earned and paid media, celebrity & influencer relations.
• Strong grasp on the consumer lifestyle and entertainment industry, as well as cause marketing initiatives that engage celebrities and influencers.
• People management experience and a strong ability to coach junior staff to reach their full potential.
• Up to date understanding of the media landscape, including growing and emerging mediums, such as podcasts and livestreams.
• Strong writer, with experience drafting strategic communications plans and media-facing materials
• Highly strategic and organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating workflow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment.
• Must be proactive and a self-starter. Excellent problem-solving and implementation skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and to work well as a member of multiple teams.
• Strong presentations skills, interpersonal skills, and including ability to cultivate strong professional relationships with a range of groups both in person and by writing/phone.
