Overview
The Associate Director/Director of Corporate and Foundation Development provides university-wide guidance and coordination of all solicitations of corporations and foundations. The position is responsible to maintain strong institutional relationships with corporations and foundations while maximizing philanthropic gifts to various units of campus including statewide campuses.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Corporations and Foundations, the Associate/Director of Corporate and Foundation Development works closely with relevant unit development officers, Deans and Unit Directors throughout the Statewide system to provide support, strategy and overall coordination of proposals, sponsorships, and requests for support including in-kind gifts. In addition, the Director position will have personal contact, proposal submission and closed-gift goals.
As an Associate Director/Director within the corporations and foundations team, the position is responsible to build collaborative relationships with unit-based development staff, key university leadership and donors. An overarching goal of the position is to build strong institutional relationships with corporate and foundation donors that are long term focused to maximize philanthropic support for the university over time independent of specific funding projects.
Candidates will be hired into this position at either the Associate Director (Development Officer II) or Director (Development Officer III) level based on individual qualifications and experience. This position requires extensive public contact with high level corporate and foundation donors as an ambassador of the University. Travel and evening and weekend work are required
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Lead active collaboration with Development staff, deans and key university leaders around requests and proposals to corporations and foundations to link donor passions with university priorities.
* Participate in Principle Gift Program strategy development for corporate and foundation donors.
* Develop strong relationships with Corporate and Foundation contacts to facilitate a one-USU approach and to serve as a main point of contact with the University.
* Assist with proposal development, submission and reporting requirements.
* Qualify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from corporate and foundation sources.
* Provide support, guidance and problem solving to Unit development staff, deans, and directors.
* Work actively with the Central Development and the Collegiate Development team to develop strong workplace relationships based on transparency, collaboration, and mutual trust.
* Work with Advancement Services staff to identify and qualify new corporate and foundation donor prospects.
