Position Description:
The Associate Director of Career Development & Student Engagement, in collaboration with the Director of Student Engagement and SSSE Administration, will lead initiatives and programs supporting the academic achievement and career readiness of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso students. The Associate Director will educate, facilitate, and engage with students, plan and execute professional development presentations, programs, and events, and support employer engagement. The Associate Director will also lead student outreach and engagement activities, assist with special projects, and serve on various committees. Additionally, this role spearheads the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive student engagement program that boosts school spirit, enriches the TTUHSCEP student experience, and provides students with opportunities to explore their interests and achieve their personal goals.

Major/Essential Functions:
+ Plan, implement, administer, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate career development programs and services in areas such as self-assessment, occupational/vocational information and career planning, testing of career possibilities through internships and similar experiences, and job search and placement. Develop and modify services and operating policies/procedures in accordance with student needs and institutional objectives.
+ Works closely with students to initiate, plan, develop, and facilitate events and activities to enhance the quality of student life, leadership development, and University experience for all students.
+ Oversees planning, developing, implementing, and analyzing the department's short-and long-term goals and develops a robust, year-round calendar of activities for the campus community.
+ Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the student lounge; Promoting and monitoring student involvement, training and advising faculty advisors and student leaders, and ensuring student organizations comply with all state, system, and university policies, rules, and regulations
+ Assists with evaluation of programs and makes recommendations for revisions to processes and procedures, with a focus on continuous departmental/process improvement; Assists with development of new programs and events
+ May supervise institutional staff and coordinate programs and activities across the institution to ensure the highest quality service to students, alumni, and businesses, as well as provide consistency of approach, message, and procedures for effective communications, teamwork, and customer service.
+ Provide individual counseling, instruction, and assistance to students concerning all aspects of career planning and placement. Assist in researching and assessing various career opportunities; refer students to appropriate reference materials in the career library; provide orientation to/assistance with using library resources; review and edit resumes and professional letters.
+ Creates and submits a variety of reports related to assigned department; Performs research and analysis to assists with preparation and presentation of findings; May make presentations at various levels both internally and externally
+ Work closely with degree programs, research centers, the Dean's Offices, and key external stakeholder groups to expand and maintain an employer recruitment network and to develop and sustain a continuum of internships and job placements.
+ Support all SSSE Events as requested by SSSE senior leadership to ensure adequate support for all students.
+ Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures, and processes.
+ Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP's values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
+ Perfom all other duties as assigned.
