Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.
Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several unique sites across San Francisco.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Under the guidance of the Program Director of Larkin Street Academy, the Associate Director of Art and Education assists the management team in overseeing the development, implementation, and day to day operations of the department as it pertains to education and art. The Associate Director of Art & Education supervises Academic Support Services, which helps Larkin Street Youth Services clients reach traditional academic milestones, and The Arts & Learning Center which provides exploratory learning of interesting topics to help clients find their paths, in both academic and creative formats. The Associate Director of Art & Education collaborates with the Employment Programs within Larkin Street Academy, as well as Larkin Street Housing and Outreach programs to provide the most effective and supportive services for clients advancing their education.
This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight to Larkin Street Academy education, art and
collaboration with employment programs. - Direct and structure programming to help formerly homeless transition aged youth reach
academic milestones, including GED attainment and college matriculation. - Direct and structure programming to help formerly homeless transition aged youth
achieve creative freedom, develop artistic skills, and engage with the community. - Prepare and develop a Programmatic Calendar of Events, Activities, and Schedules for all
Academic and Arts programmatic operations. - Ensure compliance with public and private funding, program budget, and agency
outcomes. - Attend and participate in all agency management meetings and represent Larkin Street
Youth Services at community/partner meetings and activities. - Fulfill reporting requirements as designated by Larkin Street Academy program.
- Supervise staff in collaboration with management team of Larkin Street Academy.
- Create and maintain partnerships with community providers and post-secondary
education institutions, as well art studios, performers, and guest speakers/instructors. - Participate in the hiring and training of Larkin Street Academy staff.
- Provide overall support throughout Larkin Street Academy and Larkin Street Youth
Services. - Participate in agency leadership as member of Senior Performance Improvement Team.
- Participate in strategic planning for the ongoing development of Larkin Street
programming. - Attend team meetings to discuss clients' needs and progress.
- Ability to provide periodic after hours on-call consultation for Larkin Street Youth Services
housing programs. - Participate in rotating on-call schedule for afterhours crisis debrief.
- Actively participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work within the agency along
with managing programs with a lens on DEI. - Strong commitment to the agency and philosophy of Larkin Street Youth Services.
- Other duties, as determined by Director/Chief of Programs.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
- You have experience serving Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds, similar to the client base at Larkin Street Youth Services.
- You have program management and supervisory experience.
- You have experience in direct-service roles related to art and/or education programming.
- You are a self-starter and team player. Your colleagues describe you as compassionate, collaborative, and reliable.
- You work best in a hybrid working environment, working from home for 1 day per week.
- You are willing to serve as an After Hours On-Call Supervisor for 7 days, every 6-8 weeks.
- You are willing to work holidays occasionally.
- You are vaccinated against COVID 19.
