Position Overview
The Associate Director, Wind & Solar Development plays a pivotal role in driving the growth of our utility-scale wind+solar+storage project portfolio. This dynamic position demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record in the renewable energy industry. The successful candidate will lead existing development initiatives while actively identifying and pursuing new opportunities to expand our pipeline.
This director will lead the East Coast Market.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee the development lifecycle of early, mid, and late-stage wind, hybrid, and repower projects across key geographic markets (MISO, PJM, SPP, Southeast, WECC).
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Wind Director to develop and execute a comprehensive wind development strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with engineering, underwriting, environmental science, contract management, marketing, operations, and legal teams to ensure project success.
- Land Acquisition: Support land acquisition teams in identifying and evaluating potential project sites.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough due diligence and financial analysis to assess project viability.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, community leaders, government officials, and industry partners.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes and ensure compliance with all relevant permits and approvals.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing development organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in utility-scale wind development.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and closing wind energy projects.
- Deep understanding of wind energy markets, technologies, and financial models.
- Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to travel up to 30% to conduct site visits and manage projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with interconnection procedures in PJM and Southeastern markets.
- In-depth knowledge of energy storage technologies and markets.
- Familiarity with repowering strategies and execution.
Will assist with relocation to Charlotte, NC
