Chicago Coalition to end Homelessness (CCH) is a 44-year-old systemic advocacy organization. CCH develops campaigns and initiatives to address the causes of homelessness - lack of affordable housing, lack of access to health care and services and lack of jobs paying a living wage. We place much emphasis on organizing and developing leaders who have experienced homelessness to become spokespersons and leaders of our various initiatives. CCH does its work in accordance with its organizational values – centering people with lived experience, accountability & honesty, hope & joy, equity, and shared power. We recognize that homelessness is a problem that stems from systemic racism and that biases and prejudices are embedded in the fabric of society, and thus, also permeate organizations like ours. The Role
The Associate Director of Digital Communications and Marketing is experienced in storytelling, branding, and design, with strong writing and editing skills and a keen eye for detail. They will provide support to CCH’s policy, organizing, and legal teams to advance advocacy goals while centering the voices of people with lived experience and work in partnership with CCH’s development department to achieve fundraising and engagement goals, while working to advance racial equity, They will help develop and execute the strategy and management of the organization’s website, social platforms, and email programs, and related priority projects in collaboration with the Director of Strategic and Policy Communications.
Responsibilities
Graphic Design / Visual Communication:
Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials.
Design and create collateral for organization, fundraising, events, and campaigns.
Design annual report, direct mail pieces, banners, brochures, flyers, posters, infographics, and other marketing materials.
Maintain photo and video library.
Social Media:
Manage existing social media platforms and identify new opportunities to remain current with trends and best practices.
Create content for a compelling content calendar.
Lead social media strategies that ensure all content aligns with CCH’s mission, vision, advocacy, fundraising, and marketing goals.
Utilize content management platform (Sprout Social) to schedule content and manage engagement and analytics.
Website:
Create and update content for CCH’s websites, including blog posts, story features, and program updates.
Utilize assessment tools such as Google Analytics to analyze website performance and identify improvements in user experience.
Email Marketing: Collaborate across departments to create email campaigns, including monthly e-newsletter, fundraising appeals, and action alerts
Work in collaboration with all CCH departments – CCH believes strongly in interdepartmental collaboration and expects all staff to work in close partnership with other departments at the organization.
Qualifications
Required
Demonstrated understanding of digital technology for communications, fundraising, and advocacy
Photography and videography capacities
Demonstrated ability to be nimble and responsive to changing communications needs in light of new threats and opportunities
Demonstrated ability to provide, receive, and act on feedback
Demonstrated understanding of how to use digital media to advance advocacy and organizing goals
Proficient in WordPress, MS Office, Google Suite, Sprout Social, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
Preferred
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with diverse populations
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, in collaboration with all CCH departments—CCH believes strongly in interdepartmental collaboration and expects all staff to work in close partnership with the other departments at the organization.
Work to advance racial equity and dismantle systems based on white supremacy within area of expertise
Demonstrated ability to stay on task, meet deadlines and goals
Preferred
Proficiency with Spanish
Knowledge of and experience with EveryAction
Salary Range
$70,000 -$73,000, (salary above the base salary is available if the candidate meets one or more of the following criteria – demonstrated second language proficiency ($1,000), lived experience of homelessness ($1,000), certification in racial equity work ($1,000). In addition, CCH provides excellent benefits; including health and dental, life insurance, disability insurance, 401K, four weeks paid vacation, student loan reimbursement, and a sabbatical program.
