Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Associate Director of Facilities- Boca Raton, FL.
The Associate Director of Facilities is responsible to the Director of Facilities for Housing and Residential Education. The Associate Director is integral to the Office of Housing and Residential Education facilities leadership team, ensuring safety, customer satisfaction, and living environments that support student learning, well-being, and engagement. The Associate Director assists in providing leadership for the residential facilities program on the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses, supervises the facilities staff on the Jupiter campus, and supervises the Warehouse Supervisor.
Summary of Responsibilities:
+ Supervise facilities staff on the Jupiter Campus, who are responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance program on the Jupiter campus. This includes hiring, selecting, supervising, training, and evaluating the mechanic and custodial staff.
+ In conjunction with the Director of Housing Facilities and other staff, provide support and assessment of building systems, including all mechanical, roof, elevator, etc. Work with staff to provide day to day support where needed and recommendations for capital planning. Assess building systems on all campuses. Provide leadership and direction for system repairs and major projects.
+ In the absence of the Director of Housing Facilities, provide guidance and support to all housing facilities staff and address facilities or custodial services as needed.
+ Work closely with Housing and Residential Education staff, campus partners, and vendors.
+ Assist with developing preventative and capital maintenance plans.
+ Serve as the primary liaison between Student Affairs Information Technology and Housing and Residential Education to optimize the maintenance and assessment management software use.
+ Assist the facilities team in developing a comprehensive summer calendar for all residential facilities. Ensure a successful room turn process on the Jupiter campus.
+ Contribute to a comprehensive 5-year capital project plan for both campuses, including providing guidance on all building systems, condition assessment, life cycle planning, etc., to ensure building systems are kept in good condition.
+ Serve as essential personnel and provide crisis and critical incident response and follow-up for the residential student population, including hurricane preparation and aftermath.
+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and standards and all campus standards regarding safety, security, and maintenance measures. Responsible for compliance with building, fire, safety, and environmental codes.
+ Assist the Director with budget development and management, including monitoring expenses, researching purchase options, and collecting competitive quotes.
+ Coordinate with vendors for procurement, leasing, and refurbishment. Help manage service agreements.
+ Perform job-related duties as required or deemed appropriate to accomplish their area's responsibilities and functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience required. Schedule staff to support evening and weekend rotations and on-call staffing. Serve in an on-call duty rotation. Respond to phone calls after hours and on weekends, as needed. Some night and weekend work, particularly during peak times, will be required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Strong administrative and problem-solving skills.
Experience with plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC systems.
Familiar with building systems, including elevators, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical.
Possess skills in project management, organizing, delegating, and prioritizing.
Ability to lead, motivate, direct, and communicate with all levels of employees.
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
Demonstrated skill in critical thinking and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of computer applications and word-processing software.
Salary:
$85,000 - $90,000 per year.
