Job DescriptionOwns the execution and refinement of the processes to source Crown Jewels across the AbbVie environment. Leads all sourcing activities including active searching, interviewing, questionnaires and lead follow-up. Meets with resources from IT System Owners, Business System Owners to VP level Business leadership to identify what data is a Crown Jewel and distills this into identifiable assets containing Crown Jewels. Collaborates cross-functionally with various departments to establish a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s data landscape.
Owns and enhances the Crown Jewel Metadata system that tracks Crown Jewels and their associated storage locations and data flows. Collects and retains examples of Crown Jewels for the purpose of securing and identifying additional Crown Jewels. Identifies and implements new tools or technologies that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Crown Jewel sourcing and management.
Coordinates with peers across ISRM to ensure Crown Jewels are onboarded across existing ISRM Processes like Third Party Supplier Management, Vulnerability Management, Incident Management, Data Loss Prevention, and Security Architecture, as well as groups outside of ISRM such as IAI. Partner with Crown Jewel owners and IT System Owners to motivate them to protect AbbVie’s data assets.
Manages staff responsible for working with customers and partners to: onboard and offboard Crown Jewels, and ensure the CJ Metadata system is up to date. Defines the business, financial, and operational requirements for new and existing Crown Jewel Office systems and processes. Collaborates in the planning, design, development and deployment of new systems, and enhancements to existing systems. Enhances business processes, operations, and information process flow. Identifies and resolves issues with existing systems. Leads the development and on-going refresh of the Crown Jewel strategy. Proactively identifies areas of opportunity to apply IT for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.
Acts as a trusted advisor to the business. Key point of contact for Office of the Crown Jewels. Partners with Communications & Organizational Change Management to bring awareness of Crown Jewels to stakeholders. Provides insight to the overall IT organization on how to best develop and leverage capabilities for the organization(s).

- Elicits and diagnoses strategic business requirements for initiatives and programs. Establishes a framework for defining and categorizing Crown Jewels. Leads sourcing activities and collaborates cross-functionally to understand and map the organization’s critical data asset landscape.
- Understands the business processes in multiple business functions. Leads development and application of strategy. Work involves application of high- level management and leadership skills.
- Negotiates, secures, oversees and ensures that resources are available to meet the long-range operational demands of the business area. Partners with peers in ISRM, Senior Business Executives, and IT System Owners, facilitating and secure and collaborative environment.
- Participates in setting policies and procedures.
- Operates within broad goals and objectives. Makes decisions that impact the division. Makes strategic decisions that impact the corporation. Has authority and responsibility for all aspects of a significant area of work. Is held fully accountable for actions taken and decisions made, both by self and any subordinates. - Bachelor's Degree with 9 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 8 years’ experience; PhD with 4 years’ experience
- Project Management experience and Business Systems knowledge.
- 1-2 years supervisory and employee development experience. 2-3 years strategic IT planning experience.
- Can explain and present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels up to the highest in a persuasive and convincing manner.
- Broad and deep IT knowledge coupled with equivalent knowledge of the processes and activities of the business.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
