By doing so, we help donors achieve their philanthropic dreams through partnerships with the University and we help CU Boulder accelerate its role in world-changing solutions that positively impact our state, the nation, and the world.
The Associate Director of Principal Giving and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for supporting the university-wide principal giving and strategic initiatives efforts through the active project management of in-flight, principal-level gift conversations, planning and execution of strategic initiative ideation sessions, donor strategy sessions, oversight of the principal gifts proposal pipeline, unit-offered trainings, and coordination of CU Boulder's top prospects. This position is critical to increasing the transformational philanthropic efforts for the Oce of Advancement at CU Boulder.
Under the guidance of the Director of Principal Giving and Strategic Initiatives Operations, this position is tasked with stewarding donors, engaging alumni and other constituents, promoting the reputation of the Principal Giving and Strategic Initiatives unit, and increasing overall philanthropic support for CU Boulder.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Strategic Programmatic Oversight/Task Execution/Tactical Work
+ Provide project management support for in-flight, principal-level gift conversations. Circulates detailed follow-up to, and supervises action with key partners to support the execution of central initiatives for principal gift prospects in coordination with advancement leadership and the university's academic and administrative leadership.
+ Autonomously lead in the planning and execution of central initiative ideation sessions, donor strategy sessions, oversight of the principal gifts proposal pipeline, and unit-offered trainings.
+ Develop expert awareness of strategies, current engagements, and next steps for all prospects in the principal gifts pipeline. Assist in prioritization and execution of donor strategies and serve as a strategic thought partner for frontline fundraisers and other collaborators. Use the donor database to supervise and advance cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Help ensure accurate and up-to-date information on donors/relationships.
+ Proactively manage the principal gifts pipeline, including preparing for and organizing the Principal Gifts Pipeline Strategy Sessions led by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement.
+ In coordination with Advancement Marketing and Communications and Donor Relations, assist in the creation of compelling content that supports the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of top donors, to include but not limited to, cases for support, proposals, impact reports, thank you notes, gift announcements, etc.
+ Identify, promote, and support donor and volunteer recognition opportunities. Examples include alumni awards, alumni publications, honorary degrees, etc. In partnership with the Director and team members, review the effectiveness of programs and make suggestions for modications and improvements.
+ Lead, coordinate and/or promote staff trainings to ensure comprehensive understanding of the tools, resources and protocols in place to support principal giving and strategic initiatives gifts.
+ Provide autonomous support to the team in the execution of critical initiatives for principal prospects in coordination with advancement leadership and the university's academic and administrative leadership.
+ Meet annual performance goals.
Other Engagement Duties as Assigned
+ Partner with Donor Relations to engage, steward and manage important donors, volunteers and allies to CU Boulder.
+ Meet annual performance goals.
+ Attend meetings with advancement staff across campus to share information, discuss standard processes and collaboration opportunities.
+ Work with CU system, CU Foundation and CU Boulder Advancement staff to assist with the effective identication, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of principal giving and strategic initiatives donors to CU Boulder.
What You Should Know
+ This position will occasionally be required to work evenings/weekends
+ This position has the ability to work a hybrid schedule with some days on campus and some days remote.
+ This position may require local, regional, and out-of-state travel to engage with university constituents.
What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $81,000-$90,000. Relocation assistance may be available within Advancement guidelines.
