Associate Director, Sustainability - ORIX

About the Job
This role will primarily be focused in supporting the corporate sustainability program, while also assisting with ad-hoc tasks and projects supporting the sustainable investment strategies. General duties entail:
- Maintenance and enforcement of sustainability governance and policies:
- Support the Head of Sustainability Group in the continuous update and adaptation of policies to evolving regulatory and market conditions;
- Continuous monitoring and assessment of the quality of the sustainability scorecards performed by the deal teams;
- Oversee the sustainability assessment performed by relationship managers when onboarding new suppliers/vendors;
- Address governance and policy requests from Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit functions.
- Facilitation of periodic and ad-hoc internal sustainability engagement:
- Draft materials and minutes of the quarterly, semi-annual, and impromptu internal engagement meetings the Sustainability Group holds with all lines of business and functions;
- Discuss and exchange updates on markets and sustainability trends, sustainability events, and observed best practices to promote awareness
- Monitoring and supporting the implementation of the sustainability agenda and goals set by each line of business and function;
- Performance of sustainability research & development of training program:
- Perform continuous monitoring of market intelligence, legal / regulatory changes, as well as academic research in the field of sustainability to assess adequacy and adherence of ORIX USA Group’s sustainability program;
- Assist other departments in their sustainability intelligence needs and searches;
- Support the procurement and/or development of sustainability training programs addressed to ORIX USA Group employees
- Support the maintenance of the sustainability intranet, an internal resource hub for all employees.
- Management of sustainability data collection and reporting tools:
- Oversee and direct the continuous upgrades of the internal sustainability dashboard to meet the growing needs of the firm in producing and monitoring sustainability scores;
- Oversee and direct the ongoing maintenance and quality of the sustainability data collection, processing, and reporting tool;
- Management of external sustainability communications:
- Support the maintenance and updates of sustainability-related communications, including due diligence questionnaires, website content and engagements with external organizations (ex: UNPRI, EDCI)
- Ad-hoc project management:
- Occasional support to the sustainable investment strategies projects;
- Organizing meetings and taking minutes of the Sustainability Advisory Group;
- Running jointly with other departments, in particular with the Risk function, scenario or impact analyses;
- Preparation of ad-hoc internal/external presentations
Contacts
This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management across all lines of business and functions. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.
Required Education, Skills & Experience
- At least 5+ years of experience in sustainability project management at an investment bank, large commercial bank, large asset manager, or large investor (private credit, private equity, and/or real estate);
- Completion of a formal sustainability training program is a plus;
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related subject;
- In-depth understanding of asset management business, private credit, private equity, and real estate investments;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills;
- Excellent written and verbal skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks at the same time;
- Motivated, self-starter and team player; strong work ethic and positive attitude; and
- Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team.
Annual base salary gross: $150,000 - $170,000(NY only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of theORIX USA’s salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component ofORIX USA’s total compensation package for employees.
