About the Job
The Associate L&P Specialist is responsible for environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance related to vegetation management and energy infrastructure projects (gas and electric transmission and distribution) along Eversource’s Rights of Way (ROWs) in CT. The Associate L&P Specialist is responsible for all phases of the environmental planning, scheduling, and implementation utility projects to minimize environmental liability and ensure compliance.
This position may also support holistic collaboration within the L&P group by providing, internal GIS mapping and data retention, compliance, and schedule tracking support.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Essential Functions
- Conceptualize and execute plans, interact with regulatory agencies, manage budgets. Ensure strict compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations.
- Forge relationships with regulators and key stakeholders, while balancing the needs of the company.
- Build strong collaborative working relationship with utility operations.
- Manage contracts, including specifications and bid documents, RFP coordination, and managing environmental consultants and vendors.
- Responsibilities may include wetland resource permitting, cultural resource permitting, threatened, rare, threatened, and endangered species permitting, as well as ensuring compliance relative to erosion and sediment protection measures.
- The L&P Specialist may conduct environmental assessments/field inspections, permitting, soil and groundwater management, attend public meetings and hearings, and provide oversight of contracts and consultants for such services.
- The L&P Specialist will work closely alongside both internal and external cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process in Connecticut.
- Familiarity with the following agencies and their responsibilities: USACE, CT DEEP, NDDB. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with aggressive schedules simultaneously.
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource, Ecology, or related field required.
Experience:
- Zero (0) plus years of experience. Knowledge of utility construction is strongly preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Professional certification (PWS, CPESC, CESSWI, Forester etc.) desired.
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 40-hour wetland delineation and regulatory training and a working knowledge of GIS a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $74,000 - $82,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
