Job Description

Purpose Of Position:

Under the general direction of the COO, the AED of Support Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Support Services Division’s various programs and determine objectives consistent with established goals, including management of division staff, contractors, subcontractors, facilities, and other resources of the department. large to complex programs and projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manages all aspects of operations and maintenance of the facility, including management of the physical plant, buildings, and grounds and management of ancillary support services.
• Oversee and facilitate project management for various large and complex programs and projects related to construction, improvements and maintenance; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work product, methods, and procedures.
• Develop and implement short and long-term objectives, departmental policies and procedures, and standards of work performance for 24-hour coverage, operation, maintenance, and repair of building and utility system.
• Coordinate work with other departments as well as outside agencies as necessary. Participate in the strategic planning for the division; assist in the preparation and administration of the division’s improvement goals.
• Develop, monitor and review the division’s budget; ensure fiscal soundness of the division by working with Hospital Administration to develop, justify and administer the division’s capital and operating budgets
• Assist in the selection, training and performance evaluation of personnel; make recommendations and work with employees to correct deficiencies; when necessary, initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary actions.
• Develop policies and programs to ensure division activities comply with pertinent federal, state, county, and local laws and regulations and assist in the coordination of departmental programs with those of federal, state, county, and local regulatory agencies.
• Effectively communicate status of projects on regular basis to key stakeholders (Hospital Administration, Union, Department personnel, etc.).
• Coordinate, facilitate, attend, chair and lead a variety of hospital-wide meetings related to the environment of care; serve on committees as requested; represent the Division and make oral presentations at meetings and other events.
• Attend construction meetings and work with architects, engineers, contractors, specialists and Department staff to ensure that operational and maintenance concerns are incorporated into building projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

•  A Master’s Degree with a specialization in Hospital Administration, Health Care Administration, Administrative Medicine or in Public Health when conferred for a program in Hospital Administration from an accredited college or university; and,
• Six years of high-level responsible experience in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or an equivalent field, or as an Assistant to a Hospital Administrator in a position of direct responsibility for operations of a major part or all of a hospital, including substantial exposure in meeting community health needs; or,
• An equivalent combination of training, education and experience in related fields and educational disciplines; and,
• Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of hospital organization, administration and standards, regulations and laws applicable to hospital operations, knowledge of business and human resources administration principles, management functions, management processes and functions of hospital departments, and ability to direct and supervise personnel.
