About the job
Turning Point Brands, Inc. (NYSE: TPB) seeks an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel. This role requires good judgment, a strong work ethic, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a strong interest in learning about new areas of the law. This is a unique opportunity to work on a variety of matters across the company in an exciting, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment. This role is a Monday-Thursday in-office with work from home on Fridays.
As the Associate General Counsel, you will help drive our legal strategy and business partner model forward. In this role, you will….
- Work cross-functionally with various groups across the company, with a primary focus on general commercial law, business formation, B2B and B2C transactions, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, IP, securities, regulatory, and corporate governance matters
- Conduct investment research and analysis and transactional due diligence
- Collaborate with and manage outside counsel
- Advise cross-functional teams on strategy and risk
- Provide advice and support to the Board of Directors
Minimum Qualifications
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 3+ years of experience handling commercial matters at a law firm and/or in-house role
- Experience thinking strategically to solve complex legal challenges and managing multiple high priority projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including experience communicating efficiently and managing relationships outside of legal
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, research, and advocacy skills
- Business acumen and transactional experience
